The Pistol River Wave Bash is in full swing as of last weekend, with the majority of the bracketed competition already wrapping up after beginning on Saturday.

This year’s Wave Bash featured an open competition window from June 15-22 to allow a more flexible approach in regards to wind conditions after running into issues during last year’s event and having to extend it.

The weather so far has been optimal, however, leading to most of the brackets being completed in the first four days. Even if every brackets finishes, the Wave Bash will continue until this Saturday when the surfers head up to Gold Beach to hold their closing ceremony during the Gold Beach Brewfest this Saturday.

The Wave Bash also held a clinic last week that let competitors get in some practice in Oregon waters before the main event, as well as teach non-competitors the ins and outs of the sport.

The organizers are also tentatively looking into hosting more casual activities throughout the week before Wave Bash wraps up this coming weekend.

You can find the latest schedule, results, and news regarding the Wave Bash on the International Windsurfing Tour’s official website at or their official Facebook page at

This is the tenth annual Pistol River Wave Bash, which attracts windsurfers from around the world each year. This is the third stop on the International Windsurfing Tour, that will proceed to Baja, Peru, and Maui after finishing in Oregon.
