Bruins Boys Soccer Advances to State Semi-Finals
The Bruins Varsity Boys Soccer Team, like the black and white ball they kick around...is on a roll!
BHHS effectively dismantled bunk mate, St. Mary's of Medford Saturday afternoon white washing the Crusaders 4-0 to advance to the state semi-final round. The Bruins took control of the match early according to Brookings-Harbor's Head Coach, Jess Beaman.
"The(Bruins) boys played hard and pressured St. Mary's defense." Adding " I don't think anybody had done that to them(St. Mary's) all year long and I think it kind of rattled them."
Indeed. When the Brookings-Harbor footers weren't stealing and blocking shots on 'D' they were blasting the nets with scores of their own. Fabian Villa led the way with three points, the second one coming on an assist from team mate, Rylan Bruce. Jair Valdoninos would convert the fourth goal and get the win.
Now the Bruins are in the final four and face Oregon Episcopal who beat Riverside to move on this Tuesday, November 12th. Beaman thinks the match will be held in Brookings but the time is yet to be determined.
What is the secret to the Bruins winning ways?
"We chase the ball pretty hard... and look hard at every opportunity."
