The Hidden Valley Mustangs under Head Football Coach, James Powers, proved to be the real deal and worthy of their #1 state ranking by dismissing the visiting Bruins 49-12 and running amok scoring 7 unanswered touchdowns before retiring their starters mid way through the third frame. After sitting down their varsity it set the table for BHHS to score twice on the Mustangs in the fourth quarter.

With HVHS junior quarterback, Sam Vidlak, at the helm, the versatile 6'-1 170 pound signal caller headed up an explosive offense prolific both on the ground and in the air. Running back Tobias Powers ripped off huge chunks of real estate with runs of 22, 48, and 75 yards had a hand in almost every score. The dynamic duo mounting a relentless attack that featured a speedy delivery system that had BHHS struggling to keep up with.

The Bruins, though outmatched, remained tough throughout the contest recovering a Hidden Valley fumble at the 15 to drive in one of their two scores. Brookings Head Coach Bavaro rotated BHHS quarter backs Holler and Hooper in and out over the course of the evening and found some limited successes by sending out five wide receivers and no backs. It confused the Mustangs for a bit until Hidden Valley was able to dial it in and make the adjustments.

The Bruins are currently ranked #12. The top 15 get to move onto state. That bodes well for Brookings football fans as the Blue and Gold will now likely once again earn their second straight foray into the play offs. Details will be released as to game times and location by the OSAA on Saturday evening  and will subsequently be announced in Wednesday's Pilot. BHHS finishes 6-3 in regular season play for 2019.
