Both Brookings-Harbor soccer teams are off to unbeaten starts to the new season.
The boys followed their opening 8-0 win over the Coquille-Myrtle Point squad with a 6-1 win at North Bend on Saturday.
In that match, the Bruins got a goal and three assists by Fabian Villa.
Uriel Cortes had the first two goals, one on an assist by Villa and the other on an assist by Dylan Hodge.
Villa assisted the third and fourth goals as well, scored by Josh Serna and Jake Beaman.
Villa’s goal came on a set piece. The Bruins’ other goal was an own goal when North Bend deflected a corner kick by Villa into the net.
The Bruins played Sutherlin on Thursday (results weren’t available by press time) and next week are at South Umpqua on Tuesday and home for Umpqua Valley Christian on Thursday and North Bend on Saturday.
Brookings-Harbor’s girls have beaten South Umpqua 7-0, edged Sutherlin 4-3 and topped the combined Coquille-Myrtle Point squad.
Battling rainy conditions Tuesday, the Bruins built a 4-1 lead on the visiting Bulldogs and held on over the final 10 minutes.
Zoe Carlson and Hannah James each scored two goals for the Bruins.
