Bruins baseball

The Bruins baseball team secured their spot as league champions on Monday when they traveled to Sutherlon to take on the Bulldogs in the first of three games.

The Bruins took the win at 5-2, bumping them up to a 13-0 undefeated streak in the league and putting them out of danger of being dethroned with their closest competitor being Sutherlin with a 10-3 league record, unable to threaten the Bruins in the first-place spot.

The Bruins are on a 15-game winning streak and have been competing with other top 3A schools for a top rank before playoffs begin.

Currently, the Bruins are ranked No. 2 in the OSAA 3A rankings, which puts them on track for multiple home playoff games. This looks to be a big potential advantage for the Bruins, as some of the team’s playoff opponents could be based as far as Portland and thus require a cross-state drive to play.

The Bruins face Sutherlin twice more on Thursday to wrap up league play with a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. After that, they break until the following Wednesday before taking on Lost River for a non-league game and then Hidden Valley on Friday.
