Bruins baseball

After defeating Rogue Fiver at 7-0 and Reedsport at 6-4 last week, the Bruins hosted the Bandon Tigers on Tuesday who they defeated at a big 14-0.

So far, the Bruins are undefeated at 3-0

The Bruins traveled to Toledo on Friday to play the Boomers and travel again on Saturday to play Taft at 1 p.m.

Bruins softball

The Bruins played four games this week, going 2-2 overall after a pair of losses in a doubleheader last Saturday and a pair of wins throughout the week.

Saturday, the Bruins played the Harrisburg Eagles in a doubleheader. The Bruins were defeated at 11-1 in the first game and defeated again at a closer 13-7 in the second.

On Tuesday, the Bruins invited their neighbors, the Gold Beach Panthers, to play at home. The Bruins won a big 13-3.

On Thursday, the Bruins took on Hidden Valley for an 8-7 win, putting the Bruins at 4-2 overall this season after having played six non-league games. This weekend they’ll take on Reedsport at home in a doubleheader starting at noon. Starting Monday, they’ll spend the first half of the week at the North Medford Spring Break Invite where they’ll face Mazama in the first round at 2 p.m.

Bruins golf

The Bruins traveled to Medford on Wednesday to play at the Cascade Invitational held at the Centennial golf course. The format was a two-person scramble, with Cameron Kime and Zach Walker coming in second place with 80 points out of nine schools, just behind St. Mary’s at 71 in first.

The girl’s two-man team of Abby Walker and Mia Weaver hit a 98. Robbie Rowe and Rylan Bruce had an 87, while Ethan Hooper and Nathaniel Barnard came in with a 93.

“They were all very good scores, especially for a cold day,” said Bruins coach Gary Early.

The Bruins will be off for spring break before returning for a tournament at Laurel Hill golf course in Pleasent Hill on April 1.

Panthers baseball

The Panthers began their season last week when they took on Del Norte on for a 14-1 loss and then Illinois Valley for a 20-0 loss. Last Saturday, the Panthers played St Mary’s, taking a 20-5 loss.

The Panthers play again after spring break on April 2, when they host Myrtle Point at 4:30 p.m.

The Panthers played a rematch game against Brookings-Harbor away this week after being defeated 24-4 on March 11. The Bruins dealt the Panthers another defeat at 15-3, taking them to 1-3 so far this season.

The Panthers play again on April 2 against Myrtle Point at home starting at 4:30 p.m.
