The Bruins dominated the South Umpqua Lancers Friday night in their secodn to last game of the season. After taking control in the first quarter, the Bruins took a huge 81-46 win.
The Bruins took the game in the first quarter with a massive 29 points to the Lancer’s 14. The Lancers kept pace after that with a modest 13 to the Bruins 16 in the second quarter, leading into 45-25 in the Bruins favor at halftime.
The Bruisn reassureted dominance in the third quarter with 17 points to the Lancers 7 and brought things in during the fourth with a tidy 19 points to the Lancers 14. Things wrapped up at 81-46 with the Bruins taking another win.
Derek Bonde was the top scorer for the Bruins with 14 points from seven total two-pointers throughout the game. Evan Froncowiak was a close second with 13 points from three three-pointers and a pair of twos, while Brig Schofiled and Austin Froncowiak tied for third with eight points each.
The Bruins will now contest second place with either Cascade Christian or St. Mary’s depending on the outcome of their game Firday night.
The Bruins play their final scheduled game of the season at home on Tuesday night when they take on the Cascade Christian Challengers at 6 p.m. After that, they’ll be bound for the 3A state playoffs.
If Cascade Christian wins, the Bruins will face them Tuesday night to see who will take second place in the Far West league at 7-3. Tuesday’s game will start at 7:30 p.m. at Brookings-Harbor.
