The Bruins played their first game of the season Friday night against several returning alumni. They’ll go on to begin their pre-league season tonight when they travel to Mazama to take on the Vikings at 2:30 p.m. They’ll then start next week by traveling to North Bend to take on the Bulldogs at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

Kicking off their season at the annual Yreka Tournament, the Bruins faced Mt. Shasta in the first round. They took a solid 65-31 win to begin their season on a high note.
The Bruins took the lead in the first quarter at 14-8 before jumping way ahead in the second by scoring a whopping 24 to Mt. Shasta’s 7 to take things to 38-15 at the half. The Bruins kept a steady pace with another 17 points in the third quarter while giving up 7 to Mt. Shasta and going into the fourth at 55-22. They then finished off the game with another 12 points against another 7 from Mt. Shasta, ending the game at a wide 65-31.
Lexi Schofield was the top scorer for the Bruins at a whopping 23 points, followed Chloe McCrae with the second-most at 10 and Sidney Alexander and Shelby Jirsa tying for third most with eight points each.
The Bruins went on to play another round in the Yreka tournament on Friday and will wrap things up tonight at 7 p.m. when they play their final match against an undecided opponent.
The Bruins continue into their non-league season later this week when they travel to take on the North Bend Bulldogs at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
The Bruins wrestling team began their season on Wednesday when they travelled to Cave Junction to take on the Illinois Valley Cougars in a dual meet. The meet resulted in a 36-30 loss for the Bruins as they begin their season.
Later today the Bruins had to Del Norte High School to compete against the Warriors in the Battle at the Border meet starting at 9 a.m.
The Panthers began their non-league season by hosting the Pacific Pirates on Wednesday. The Pirates ended up taking the win 59-45. The Panthers played again Friday against the Umpqua Valley Christian/Melrose Christian Lions.
On Wednesday, the Panthers travel to play the Prospect Charter Cougars at 7 p.m. The boys then head to the Myrtle Tree Classic tournament to play their first match against Powers at 5 p.m. and continuing through Saturday.
To begin their non-league season, the Panthers hosted the Pacific Pirates on Wednesday for a 46-28 loss. The Panthers went on to play against the Umpqua Valley Christian/Melrose Christian Lions on Friday.
