The Bruins took a 3-0 loss against the North Bend Bulldogs on Tuesday, breaking their four-win streak and putting them at 5-2 overall this season at second place in the Far West League. The Bruins are 12-5 overall at rank No. 15 in the OSAA 4A rankings.
The Bulldogs took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, with neither team making another run until the second inning when the Bulldogs scored up to 3-0.
The Bruins traveled to North Bend to play the Bulldogs on their home turf on Friday and hit the road again next Tuesday to go play the South Umpqua Lancers at 5 p.m.
The Bruins suffered a total 11-0 shutout against the North Bend Bulldogs on Tuesday sending them down to third place in the Far West League with a 4-3 league record so far this season. At 5-10 overall, the Bruins are currently rank No. 34 in the OSAA 4A rankings.
The Bruins hosted the rematch double header against the Bulldogs on Friday and go on to host the South Umpqua Lancers on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
The Bruins host their only home golf tournament of the year on Monday at Salmon Run Golf Course, starting at 10 a.m. They’re scheduled to take a break until the regional tournament on May 6-8.
Bruins track and field
The Bruins headed to the Far West Varsity League meet in Coos Bay on Tuesday where they took fourth out of six schools with 50 points for the boys and fifth at 23 points for the girls. The Bruins once again took several high placements despite a diminished roster.
Bailey Stamm took second place in three events: 100-meter at 11.66, the 200 at 23.86 and the 400 with a new personal best at 51.50. Ryan Steendahl took second in the high jump at 5-10, as well as second in pole vault at 12-06.
For the girls, Chloe McCrae threw third in the discus at 91-01 and Avana Pettus had a new personal record at 30-01 to take third place in the triple jump.

The Bruins next meet will be at the 69th Annual Grants Pass Rotary Invitational starting at 10 a.m.
The Panthers played their rematch game against Siletz Valley on Friday after losing their first game against them at 7-5 last Saturday.
At an even 3-3 in league season the Panthers in fourth place in the 2A/1A Special District 5, just behind the Waldport Irish at 4-2. At 6-7 overall, the Panthers are rank No. 17 in the OSAA 2A/1A rankings.
The Panther’s next game will be Tuesday when they go up against Bandon again at 4:30 p.m. after taking a wide 27-17 victory earlier in the season.
