Bruins boys basketball
The Bruins boys basketball season came to a close last Saturday as they were knocked out of the running for the state playoffs by the Sutherlin Bulldogs, 53-39.
The first quarter was close at 14-13 with the Bulldogs slightly ahead, but the second quarter proved to be the turning point as the Bulldogs held the Bruins to four points before springing ahead at 27-17. The Bruins weren’t able to catch up going into the second half, and were left behind by the Bulldogs at 42-27.
Even with steady gains the Bruins couldn’t close the gap by the buzzer.
The Bruins ended their season in third place in the Far West league with a 6-4 league record. Their overall record remains frozen at 12-13 at rank No. 19 in the OSAA 4A rankings.
