Adult Softball League

The Brookings-Harbor Adult Softball League host its annual Slippery Banana Belt tournament this weekend at Bud Cross and Azalea parks.

The league will warm up by hosting a homerun derby Friday afternoon before tournament play on Saturday through Sunday starting at 8 a.m. Up to 48 teams from across the state will compete.

Concessions will be available for spectators with proceeds going to the local fields. Women’s teams will play at Bud Cross field while the men’s teams will play at Azalea Park.

Bruins wrestling

The Bruins wrestling team travelled to Hidden Valley last weekend to compete in the regional wrestling tournament.

Jonny Zebadua placed fifth in the 192 weight category, while Kelvanty Dawsey placed sixth in the 152 weight category.

With the end of regionals, the Bruin’s 2018 wrestling season has officially concluded.

Panthers boys basketball

The Panthers faced the Toledo Boomers last Friday, resulting in a 61-41 loss for the Panthers.

At 4-5 in league play, the Panthers are sitting at fourth in the Sunset Conference. They are now 11-10 overall for the season at rank No. 24 in the OSAA 2A rankings.

The Panthers played their final game of the season against the Bandon Tigers on Tuesday.

Panthers girls basketball

The Panther’s winning streak finally came to an end Friday during their rematch against the Toledo Boomers.

The Boomers bested the Panthers, 47-28, putting them both at 8-1 for league play and tied for first place in the Sunset Conference. The Panthers are 15-6 overall at rank No. 9 in the OSAA 2A rankings.

The Panthers faced the Bandon Tigers on Tuesday to decide if they’ll go on to face the Boomers again for a playoff match.

Pirates boys basketball

The Pirates are officially undefeated this season after taking down the Elkton Elks last Friday. After going 13-0 in league play, the Pirates are uncontested at first place in the Skyline League. At 23-2 overall, they are rank No.1 in the OSAA 1A rankings.

Pirates girls basketball

The Pirates lost 27-17 against the Camas Valley Hornets last Saturday. This puts the Pirates at 8-5 in the Skyline League, tied for Camas Valley for fourth place. They are 11-14 overall this season at rank No. 36 in the OSAA 1A rankings.

The pirates go on to play in the Skyline League playoff tournament today at 6 p.m. against the North Douglas Warriors, hosted at North Douglas.
