Guidelines for Letters to the Editor and Guest Commentary
Letters should be limited to one topic, contain no more than 300 words. Guest commentary submissions may be 300-450 words; occasionally we will consider a longer piece, depending upon space constraints. All submissions must include the writer’s real name and city and phone number for verification (although phone numbers will not be published). All submissions are subject to editing. We edit for length, grammar, taste and legal reasons. We generally will not publish poetry, form letters, letters submitted elsewhere, or material copied from emails or from websites/social media. We ask writers to avoid personal attacks, gratuitous insults and personal gripes. Topics of specific local interest may be given priority over issues not specifically local; writers who have not been published recently may be given priority over those who have been published recently. Letters and other commentary are the opinion of the writer, not the newspaper.
Letters may be submitted using this form; please send guest commentary to: email@example.com
