The police blotter is a public record of incidents as reported by law enforcement agencies. All individuals arrested or charged with a crime are innocent until proven guilty. The information printed is preliminary and subject to change. The Brookings Police Department provides emergency dispatch services for the City of Brookings as well as Southern Curry County 9-1-1 calls, dispatching for state, county, and local law enforcement, five fire departments, and Cal-Ore ambulance. Excerpts from the BPD call logs: 

Friday, July 17:

  • At 12:49 p.m., a report of a traffic crash with no injuries in the 500 block of Chetco Avenue.
  • At 2:06 p.m., a transient male was arrested for disorderly conduct and trespassed from a property in the 900 block of Chetco Avenue.
  • At 3:01 p.m., a motorist was cited for speeding in the 1000 block of Chetco Avenue.
  • At 3:50 p.m., an ID was reported lost in the 300 block of 5th Street.
  • At 4:36 p.m., a report of a traffic crash with no injuries on Highway 101 at mile post 363.
  • At 4:56 p.m., a small, brown dog with a collar and harness was found on Elk Drive and transferred to County Animal Control.
  • At 5:15 p.m., a report of shots fired on the area of the South Fork Bridge.
  • At 6:04 p.m., a report of counterfeit money used in the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue.
  • At 6:17 p.m., a report of burglary in the 97900 block of Court Street.
  • At 9:24 p.m., a report of an illegal burn in the 17600 block of Apple Blossom Court. Homeowner was counseled on burning fire season and put the fire out.
  • At 11:33 p.m., a report of theft in the 1600 block of Highway 101 near Harris Beach State Park.

Saturday, July 18:

  • At 9:52 a.m., a report of a traffic crash with no injuries where a vehicle backed into a building in the 300 block of Wharf Street.
  • At 10:22 a.m., a report of illegal camping at Mill Beach on private property.
  • At 12:51 p.m., a report of a transient male entering a property in the 500 block of Chetco Avenue and becoming verbally aggressive. Subject was trespassed from the property.
  • At 1:57 p.m., a report of an ID and other miscellaneous cards found near the casino in the 1600 block of Highway 101.
  • At 1:59 p.m., a report of a missing dog in the 500 block of Chetco Avenue.
  • At 5:24 p.m., a report of a female subject who left a store in the 300 block of 5th Street with a cart full of goods and fled the area.
  • At 8:22 p.m., a report of a traffic crash with no injuries two miles up south bank of Chetco River Road.
  • At 8:53 p.m., a report of illegal fireworks in the Dawon Tract area.
  • At 8:56 p.m., several reports of illegal fireworks in the area of Tribur Lane.
  • At 9:02 p.m., a report of an illegal campfire on private property in the Mill Beach area. The campfire was extinguished and the subject was counseled on burning during fire seas and warned for trespassing.
  • At 10:14 p.m., a report of a lost money clip in the 600 block of Pioneer Road.
  • At 10:55 p.m., a report of illegal camping in the area of Oak Street.

Sunday, July 19:

  • At 1:47 a.m., a report of what sounded like a traffic crash in the area of Hemlock. Responding officers were unable to locate the source of the noise.
  • At 4:40 a.m., a report of a traffic crash with injuries in the 98400 block of the north bank of Chetco River Road.
  • At 9:08 a.m., a transient illegally camping in a parking lot in the 350 block of 5th Street was trespassed and moved along.
  • At 10:30 a.m., a report of a traffic crash involving four or more vehicles on Highway 101 near Wridge Creek.
  • At 1:08 p.m., a report of a high and run in the 300 block of 5th Street.
  • At 2:56 p.m., an animal complaint reported in the 800 block of Elk Drive.
