Brookings police blotter

The police blotter is a public record of incidents as reported by law-enforcement agencies. All individuals arrested or charged with a crime are innocent until proven guilty. The information printed is preliminary and subject to change.

Tuesday August 3rd

  • At 12:33 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Parkview Drive. A verbal warning was given for speeding and expired registration on a horse trailer that was just purchased.
  • At 12:59 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Oak Street. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding.
  • At 1:26 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Fern Street and Paciifc Avenue. The driver was ticketed for operating without driving privileges.
  • At 6:01 a.m. the police responded to the North Bank Of Chetco after a caller reported an animal complaint.
  • At 1:40 p.m. the police responded to the intersection of North Bank and Blue Jay after a caller reported a traffic crash with injury.
  • At 1:41 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of 5th street and Highway 101. The driver was given a verbal warning for failing to obey traffic control devices.
  • At 1:53 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Pacific Avenue. The driver was given a verbal warning for having an expired registration.
  • At 2:06 p.m. the police responded to the 600 block of Old County Road after a caller reported an animal complaint.
  • At 2:20 p.m. the police responded to the 17100 block of Pacific Heights after a caller reported a traffic crash with no injury. A vehicle rolled into a house, causing damage. No injuries were reported.
  • At 3:20 p.m. the police responded to the intersection of Mill Beach and Chetco Avenue after a caller reported a traffic crash with injury.
  • At 3:32 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of ParkviewDrive and Chetco Avenue. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding.
  • At 5:55 p.m. the police responded to the 300 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported a traffic crash with no injury.
  • At 7:18 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Sunray and Cape Ferrelo. The driver was cited for driving while suspended and a verbal warning for speeding.
  • At 9:01 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco and Willow. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding.

Wednesday August 4th

  • At 6:27 a.m. firefighters responded to the 94500 block of Walker Lane after a caller reported a fire.
  • At 7:59 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Highway 101 and Willow. The driver was given verbal warning for speeding.
  • At 8:52 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Highway 101 and Arnold Street. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding and failing to signal lane change.
  • At 10:33 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Lucky lane. The driver was cited for speeding.
  • At 1:39 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the Dollar General parking lot. The driver was cited for driving while suspended and failing to provide current proof of insurance. He was also given a verbal warning for failing to signal.
  • At 3:23 p.m. firefighters responded to the 16000 block of Boat Bassin Road after a caller reported a fire. Fire personnel extinguished a small unattended beach fire.
  • At 4:31 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the 200 block of King Street. The driver was ticketed for driving while suspended and a verbal warning for missing the front license plate.
  • At 11:16 p.m. the police responded to the 1100 block of Fifield Street after a caller reported loud noises. It was the third time officers had to respond to this address for a loud noise/music complaint, the involved parties were sent home, and their warming fire was extinguished.

Thursday August 5th

  • At 7:34 a.m. the police responded to the 700 block of Chetco avenue after a caller reported criminal trespass. Several operators of motorhomes were advised of Brookings Municipal code regarding illegal camping and moved along.
  • At 7:52 a.m. the police responded to Mill Beach after a caller reported an animal complaint.
  • At 9:50 a.m. the police responded to the 800 block of Pioneer Road after a caller reported harassment.
  • At 10:16 a.m. the police conducted a warrant service at the 1200 block of Chetco Avenue. A male was arrested on an outstanding warrant and transported to the Curry County Jail.
  • At 10:36 a.m. the police conducted a warrant service at the Circle K. A male was arrested on an outstanding warrant, he was cited and released.
  • At 10:58 a.m. the police responded to the intersection of Old County Road and Hassett Drive after a caller reported a traffic crash with no injury.
  • At 9:27 p.m. the police responded to the 500 block of 5th Street after a caller reported disorderly conduct. A male subject was warned for disorderly conduct after he allegedly hit a vehicle with his fists and then walked down the middle of the road.
  • At 9:49 p.m. the police responded to the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported disorderly conduct.
  • At 9:54 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 500 block of Chetco Avenue.
  • At 10:28 p.m. the police responded to 5th Street after a caller reported disorderly conduct. A male subject was warned again for disorderly conduct.

Friday August 6th

  • At 8:25 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Hoffeldt Lane.
  • At 10:18 a.m. the police responded to the 1100 block of Ranson Avenue after a caller reported illegal camping.
  • At 1:52 p.m. the police responded to the 99100 block of Grandview Drive after a caller reported theft.
  • At 2:26 p.m. the police responded to the 700 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller responded to an abandoned vehicle.
  • At 2:43 p.m. the police responded to Welch Court after a caller reported loud noises.
  • At 6:11 p.m. the police responded to the 700 block of Elk Drive after a caller reported disorderly conduct. Residents were involved in a verbal dispute regarding right of way in their respective power wheelchair.
  • At 8:35 p.m. the police responded to the 17600 block of Brown Deer Lane after a caller reported theft.
  • At 9:34 p.m. the police responded to Fir Street after a caller reported illegal fireworks.

Saturday August 7th

  • At 2:27 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the 16200 block of Highway 101 South.
  • At 8:15 a.m. the police responded to the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported an animal complaint.
  • At 9:32 a.m. the police responded to the 98400 block of North Bank Chetco River Road after a caller reported a traffic crash with injury.
  • At 10:08 a.m. the police responded to the 17000 block of Eastwood Lane after a caller reported an animal complaint.
  • At 10:55 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop on Chetco Avenue.
  • At 3:40 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 18400 block of Rhody Road.
  • At 5:28 p.m. firefighters responded to the 1000 block of Wharf Street after a caller reported an illegal burn.
  • At 5:29 p.m. the police responded to the 97600 block of North Bank Chetco River Road after loud noises were reported.
  • At 6:18 p.m. the oikuce responded to the intersection of the North Bank and Chetco Avenue after a caller reported a traffic crash with no injury.
  • At 6:24 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 300 block of Matot Street.
  • At 6:28 p.m. firefighters responded to the 17300 block of Carpenterville ORad after a caller reported a fire.
  • At 7:50 p.m. the police responded to the 1600 block of Highway 101 North. One male subject was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol following the vehicle crash of which he was at fault.
  • At 8:47 p.m. the firefighters responded to the 7000 block of Welch Court after a caller reported a fire. Upon arrival fire was not as reported.

Sunday August 8th

  • At 1:37 a.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 600 block of Pioneer Road.
  • At 2:15 a.m. the police responded to the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported loud noises. Loud motel guests agreed to quiet down for the night.
  • At 2:29 a.m. the police conducted a warrant service to Mill Beach. A male was cited and released on an outstanding warrant.
  • At 2:46 a.m. the police responded to the 1100 block of Fifield Street after a caller reported harassment. Officer referred reports of harassment to the DA’s office for follow up.
  • At 3:51 a.m. the police responded again to the 1100 of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported disorderly conduct. Loud motel guests were again contacted, part of the group not staying at the motel were trespassed from property, and the others returned to their room.
  • At 9:41 a.m. the police responded to Chetco Point after a caller reported a hit and run.
  • At 9:42 a.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 200 block of pelican Bay Drive.
  • At 11:59 a.m. the police responded to the 300 block of 5th Street after a caller reported disorderly conduct. A transient male was lying on the ground blocking the US Bank entrance. He moved along although he was confrontational toward the contacting officer.
  • At 2:17 p.m. the police responded to the 800 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported a hit and run.
  • At 2:47 p.m. the police responded to the 6500 block of Lucky Lane after a caller reported a fight.
  • At 8:04 p.m. the police responded to the 600 block of 5th Street after a caller responded to a violation of city ordinance. Apartment tenants were cited for violation of City Ordinance - Noise prevention for playing loud music.
  • At 11:03 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and 5th Street. The driver was given a verbal warning for an improper left turn.

Monday August 9th

  • At 7:31 a.m. firefighters responded to the 1800 block of Taylor Creek Road after a caller reported a fire. The fire was not as reported, this was smoke drift from fires out of the area.
  • At 8:39 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Oak Street and Chetco Avenue. The driver was given a verbal warning for illegal use of a cell phone.
  • At 12:28 p.m. the US Coast Guard conducted a rescue mission. Good samaritan fellow boaters towed a disabled boat into the port, Coast Guard were not needed.
  • AT 5:27 P.M. the police responded to the 1000 block of chetco avenue after a caller reported a criminal trespass. An unauthorized motel room occupant was trespassed from the property.
  • At 8:23 p.m. the police responded to the intersection of spruce street and Fern street after a caller reported an animal complaint.
  • At 9:06 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop on Chetco Avenue. The driver was given a verbal warning for driving without lights when required.
  • At 10:35 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of 5th Street and Easy Street. The driver was cited for driving while suspended, improper equipment and failing to register a vehicle. Teh truck and trailer were parked until it can be towed by a licensed family member.
