Brookings police blotter

The police blotter is a public record of incidents as reported by law-enforcement agencies. All individuals arrested or charged with a crime are innocent until proven guilty. The information printed is preliminary and subject to change.

Tuesday August 10th

  • At 2:08 a.m. the police responded to the 1600 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported suspicious conditions. A male who was loitering on property was advised to move along and compiled.

  • At 9:37 a.m. the police responded to the 500 block of Railroad Street after a caller reported theft. Officers are investigating a report of theft by an employee of a business.

  • At 11:59 a.m. the police responded to the 1300 block of Easy Street after a caller reported theft. A male was arrested for theft III and giving false information to the police 5 times. He was transported to jail without incident.

  • At 12:35 p.m. the police responded to the 600 block of Old County Road after a caller reported disorderly conduct. A female driver yelling at a resident from her parked vehicle was warned for disorderly conduct and advised to move along.

  • At 1:42 p.m. the police responded to the Pile Post 345 on Highway 101 after a caller reported a traffic crash with injury.

  • At 5:22 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 98000 block of West Benham Lane.

  • At 6:36 p.m. the police responded to the 97800 block of Harborview Circle after a caller reported shots were fired.

  • At 9:11 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Easy Street. The driver was given a verbal warning for defective equipment.

  • At 10:18 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Oak Street. The driver was given a verbal warning for failing to maintain the lane of travel.

  • At 10:30 p.m. the police responded to Railroad Street after a caller reported a curfew violation. Two juveniles out on the road were warned for curfew violation and headed to their residence.

  • At 10:48 p.m. the police responded to the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Fern Street after a caller reported a minor in possession/purchasing liquor.

  • At 10:55 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Willow Street. The driver was given a bearable warning for failing to maintain lane of travel.

Wednesday August 11th

  • At 00:21 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the McDonalds parking lot. The driver was cited for not having an Operator’s License.

  • At 1:24 the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco avenue and Lucky lane. The driver was cited for driving while suspended.

  • At 7:29 a.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the intersection of Chetco River North Bank and Old County Road.

  • At 9:26 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of 5th Street and Chetco Avenue. The driver was given a verbal warning for illegal use of a cellphone while driving.

  • At 10:07 a.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 98000 block of W Benham Lane.

  • At 10:29 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Linden and Spruce Street. A verbal warning was given to the driver after failing to signal.

  • At 11:55 a.m. the police conducted another traffic stop at the intersection of Railroad Street and Mill Street. The driver was given a verbal warning for illegal use of a cell phone and failing to signal.

  • At 4:12 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 400 block of Azalea Park Road.

  • At 9:05 p.m. firefighters responded to the 1300 block of Crissey Field after a caller reported an illegal burn, Upon arrival the fire was not located.

Thursday August 12th

  • At 00:55 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop on Chetco Avenue. The driver was cited for driving while having a suspended license. Narcotics and drug paraphernalia were seized from a passenger and a report was forwarded to the DA’s office for prosecution.

  • At 8:13 a.m. the police responded to the 600 block of Pioneer Road after a caller reported illegal camping. Subject previously warned for illegal camping, was trespassed from the location.

  • At 1:56 p.m. the police responded to Pacific Inn after a caller reported an abandoned vehicle.

  • At 2:52 p.m. the police responded to the 700 block of Cottage Street after a caller reported a hit and run.

  • At 4:24 p.m. the police responded to the 1400 block of Seacrest Lane after a caller reported harassment over the phone.

  • At 8:07 p.m. firefighters responded to the 16000 block of Boat Bassin Road after a caller reported an illegal burn.

  • At 11:20 p..m. the police conducted a warrant service. A male was cited and released on an outstanding warrant after turning himself in.

Friday August 13th

  • At 1:58 a.m. the police responded to the 1200 block of Ransom Avenue after a caller reported a dispute.

  • At 6:55 a.m. the police responded to the intersection of highway 101 and Museum ROad after a caller reported an animal complaint.

  • At 8:53 a.m. the police conducted a warrant service on Bridge Street. A female was cited and released on an outstanding warrant.

  • At 9:37 a.m. the police responded to the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported harassment. Subjects were warned for disorderly conduct after the officer responded to a call regarding a verbal dispute.

  • At 12:50 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check on Spruce Street.

  • At 4:15 p.m. the police responded to the 300 block of Railroad Avenue after a caller reported an intoxicated subject.

  • At 4:24 p.m. the police responded to the 500 block of 5th Street after a caller reported a traffic crash with no injury.

  • At 5:21 p.m. the police conducted a warrant service at the 500 block of Chetco Avenue. A female was cited and released on an outstanding warrant.

  • At 10:44 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check in the Fred Meyer parking lot.

Saturday August 14th

  • At 8:45 a.m. the police responded to 5th Street after a caller reported illegal camping. A couple was advised of Municipal code regarding illegal camping and were moved along.

  • At 10:58 a.m. the police responded to the 400 block of Mendy Street after a caller reported an animal complaint.

  • At 11:48 a.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 14300 block of highway 101.

  • At 12:18 p.m. the police responded to the 900 block of Helen lane after a caller reported harassment over the phone.

  • At 2:50 p.m. the police responded to 4th Street between Easy Street and Ransom Avenue after a caller reported an abandoned vehicle.

  • At 4:13 p.m. the police conducted a warrant service. A male subject was arrested, cited and released on an outstanding warrant.

  • At 5:44 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 99800 block of South Bank Chetco River Road.

  • At 8:29 p.m. the police responded to the 1600 block of lower harbor Road after a caller reported unauthorized use of vehicle. A vehicle reported as stolen was located in the parking lot. Caller had forgotten where he parked it.

  • At 8:59 p.m. the police responded to the bottom of Bridge Street after a caller reported illegal camping. Several subjects were advised about municipal code regarding illegal camping.

Sunday August 15th

  • At 00:05 a.m. the police responded to the 300 block of 5t Street after a caller reported criminal trespass. A male previously trespassed was cited for criminal trespass for returning.

  • At 5:43 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Oak Street. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding.

  • At 12:33 p.m. the police responded to the 500 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported disorderly conduct. A female was formally trespassed and advised she will be arrested if she returns. She was also given a verbal warning for Disorderly conduct for yelling at random people.

  • At 1:03 p.m the police responded to the 800 block of Chetco Point Terrace after a caller reported a criminal trespass. A male attempting to fish a bag of recyclables out of someone’s yard with a stick was chased off by a neighbor. Personal property left behind allowed the investigating officer to identify and contact the suspect.

  • At 3:15 p.m. the police responded to the 16300 block of lower harbor road after a caller reported an animal complaint.
    At 6:22 p.m. the police responded to Mill Beach after a caller reported illegal camping. Transient camping on South Coast Lumber property was advised of his trespass and departed the area.

  • At 7:07 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check on Mill Beach Road.

Monday August 16th

  • At 5:00 a.m. the police responded to the end of Wharf Street after a caller reported illegal camping. A male was warned for illegal camping in city limits.

  • At 11:05 a.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 1200 block of Moore Street.

  • At 12:22 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of highway 101 and Oak Street. The river was cited for failing to carry current proof of insurance and given a verbal warning for failing to signal. The driver was advised not to move the vehicle until it was insured.

  • At 2:28 p.m. firefighters responded to the 17300 block of Carpenterville Road after a caller reported a fire. An issue at the mill caused a lot of white steam which seared to some residents to be smoke from a fire.

  • At 3:03 p.m. the police responded to the 700 block of Spruce Street after a caller reported theft of mail.

  • At 3:21 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 99600 block of North Bank Chetco River Road.

  • At 4:05 p.m. the police responded to the North Bank Chetco River Road after a caller reported gunshots.

  • At 4:51 p.m. the police responded to the 600 block of Hassett Street after a caller reported an unlawful entry of a motor vehicle. A gun was stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

  • At 8:39 p.m. firefighters responded to the 17300 block of Blueberry Drive after a caller reported an illegal burn. Fire personnel responded to an illegal brush/yard debris fire. The resident was counseled on the need to call for a burn permit when fire season is not in effect. Fire was extinguished.

  • At 9:28 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Pacific Street. The driver was given a verbal warning for defective equipment.
