Brookings Police blotter

The police blotter is a public record of incidents as reported by law-enforcement agencies. All individuals arrested or charged with a crime are innocent until proven guilty. The information printed is preliminary and subject to change.

Tuesday, July 20

  • At 12:13 a.m. the police responded to the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported criminal trespass. The officer contacted two males who had been observed climbing over the fence into the pool area of a motel. They were paying guests, so management declined to pursue trespass charges.
  • At 1:13 a.m. the police responded to Mill Beach after a caller reported illegal camping. An intoxicated male was in a vehicle after hours, he was advised to move along after sleeping it off.
  • At 1:56 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco and the Shell Station. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding.
  • At 4:20 a.m. the police responded to the 600 block of Ransom Avenue after a caller reported a criminal trespass. A transient male trespassed from private property and erected to meet with his probation officer.
  • At 6:24 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Highway 101 and Oak Street. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding and failing to signal a lane change.
  • At 10:22 a.m. the police responded to the 400 block of redwood street after a caller reported criminal trespass. A transient male that was camping on private property was advised his van will be towed if not moved.
  • At 6:53 p.m. the police responded to the 300 block of 5th street after a caller reported criminal trespass. A transient male was cited for criminal trespass at Fred Meyer and directed to contact his probation officer first thing in the morning.
  • At 6:54 p.m. firefighters responded to the Chetco River Gravel Bar after a fire was reported. The fire was not found after arrival.
  • At 7:10 p.m. the police responded to the 500 block of 5th street after a caller reported criminal trespass. Four juveniles riding skateboards on the porch of a business, were advised they could not be there and would be trespassed if they returned.
  • At 10:30 p.m. the police responded to 1600 block of Hwy 101 after a caller reported a fight. A verbal dispute was happening between a male and a female at the rest area. Both parties agreed to calm down for the night.

Wednesday, July 21

  • At 00:26 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and 5th Street. The driver was given a verbal warning for failing to stop when entering the roadway.
  • At 00:59 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Carpenterville Road and Rainbow Rock Road. The driver was given a verbal warning for failing to maintain the lane of travel.
  • At 10:26 a.m. the police responded to Julie Dr after a caller reported an animal complaint.
  • At 11:19 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop on Carpenterville Road. The driver was cited for driving while having their licenses suspended. He also received a verbal warning for failing to register the vehicle and failing to carry current proof of insurance.
  • At 12:00 p.m. the police responded to the Circle K Parking lot after a caller reported a hit and run. The driver was cited for failing to perform duties of a driver, traffic crash and driving uninsured.
  • At 12:15 p.m. the police responded to the 600 block of Hemlock Road after a caller reported threats. The officer investigating reported threats between parties involved in an ongoing civil dispute.
  • At 12:42 p.m. the police responded to the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Hillside after a caller reported disorderly conduct. A disorderly male was trespassed from Oasis Park and a nearby residence. He left the area as directed.
  • At 1:01 p.m. the police responded to the Brookings area after a caller reported harassment over the phone. A citizen was warned for telephonic harassment of an individual.
  • At 1:06 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Arnold Lane. The driver was given a verbal warning for unsafe lane change.
  • At 1:14 p.m. the police responded to the 500 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported disorderly conduct. Parties involved in a verbal dispute were warned for disorderly conduct and separated for the day.
  • At 1:25 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Highway 101 and Carpenterville road. The driver received a verbal warning for failing to maintain the lane of travel.
  • At 2:29 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection on Easy Street and Chetco avenue. ˇhe driver was given a verbal warning after failing to signal a lane change twice.
  • At 2:39 p.m. the police responded to the 1700 block of Garvin Court after a caller reported menacing. The officer investigating a report of menacing behavior by a neighbor.
  • At 4:58 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Ransom. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding.
  • At 6:01 p.m. the police responded to the 96500 block of Ocean Park dr after a caller reported an animal complaint. The call was received from a concerned citizen regarding the welfare of a flock of wild turkeys.
  • At 7:21 p.m. the police responded to Fifield Street after a caller reported loud noises.
  • At 9:48 p.m. the police responded to the 96000 block of Lone Ranch Parkway after a caller reported illegal camping.

Thursday, July 22

  • At 1:00 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Parkview. The driver was given a verbal warning for defective equipment.
  • At 1:09 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Fern Avenue. The driver was cited for driving with suspended license, and was advised not to drive.
  • At 9:45 a.m. the police responded to the social security Bar after a caller reported illegal camping.
  • At 3:42 p.m. the police responded to the Taco Bell Parking lot after a caller found property. A debit and credit card were found, the owner was located, contacted and the cards were returned.
  • At 3:57 p.m. the police responded to the 500 block of Hemlock Street after a caller found property. A purse was found and was returned to the owner.
  • At 3:56 p.m. the police responded to the 200 block of Wharf Street after a caller reported a hit and run.
  • At 5:54 p.m. the police responded to the 400 block of Maple Street after a caller reported littering. Glass was found on the sidewalk following a verbal dispute.
  • At 7:52 p.m. the police responded to the 700 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported a traffic crash after no injury.
  • At 9:41 p.m. firefighters responded to the 16000 block of Boat Basin Road after a caller reported a fire.

Friday, July 23

  • At 9:50 a.m. the police responded to the 1600 block of Highway 101 N after a caller reported disorder;y conduct. Officers located and contacted the driver of a vehicle that was reported to be driving around screaming.
  • At 9:53 p.m. the police responded to the 800 block of Chetco Avenue after disorderly conduct was reported. Officers contacted a male who was reported to be walking carrying a gun, he was warned for disorderly conduct and advised to look into a concealed carry permit and against walking through town with a gun in hand.
  • At 11:45 a.m. the police responded to Mill Beach after a caller reported a parking violation. The registered owner of a vehicle was contacted dueto its vehicle being illegally parked and blocked another vehicle from leaving.
  • At 11:49 a.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 400 block of ALder Street. Officers responded to a report of a female yelling at two children in a vehicle. Upon arrival the vehicle was gone.
  • At 1:16 p.m. the police responded to the 900 block of Midland Way after a caller reported identity theft. A citizen reported an unknown charge of $1,900 on a Verizon account.
  • At 4:06 p.m. the police responded to the 500 block of Cushing Court after a caller reported an animal complaint. Two Schnauzer dogs were loose, the caller lost sight of them.
  • At 4:15 p.m. the police responded to the 200 block of Cypress Street after a caller reported forgery/fraud. The victim is pursuing charges.
  • At 8:02 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check to Harris Beach State Park. A female walking into traffic was contacted by officers and warned for disorderly conduct.
  • At 8:50 p.m. the police responded to the intersection of highway 101 and Frontage Road after a caller reported disorderly conduct. Officers recontacted the female who was acting disorderly and ensured she safely crossed the street by using the crosswalk.
  • At 8:56 p.m. the police responded to the 16100 block of Lower Harbor Road after a caller reported illegal fireworks.
  • At 9:37 p.m. the police conducted a warrant service at the 600 block of Chetco Avenue. The male was cited, released and issued a new court date on an outstanding warrant.
  • At 10:15 p.m. the police responded to the 96000 block of Lone Ranch Parkway after a caller reported illegal campig=ng. Parties were contacted for illegal camping, they gathered items and left.

Saturday, July 24

  • At 1:12 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Arnold Street. The driver was given a verbal warning for failing to maintain the lane of travel.
  • At 5:17 a.m. firefighters responded to the intersection of North Fork and Chetco River after a caller reported a fire. The fire was not found upon arrival.
  • At 8:42 a.m. the police conducted a welfare check at Mill Beach.
  • At 11:05 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Oak Street. The driver was cited for driving while suspended and received a verbal warning for speeding.
  • At 11:13 a.m. firefighters responded to the intersection of highway 101 and Pedrioli Drive after a caller reported a fire.
  • At 12:08 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Parkview Drive. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding.
  • At 12:13 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop on Chetco Avenue. The driver was given  verbal warning for failing to yield to an Emergency Vehicle.
  • At 1:19 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop on Chetco Avenue near Dairy Queen. The driver was given a verbal warning for speed racing.
  • At 8:04 p.m. firefighters responded to the 16200 block of Lower Harbor Road after a caller reported a fire. The vehicle fire was extinguished by fire personnel.
  • At 9:19 p.m. the police responded to the Redwood Bar of the Chetco River after a caller reported an illegal burn.
  • At 10:59 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and 5th Street. The driver was cited for going 51 mph in a 35 mph zone.
  • At 11:22 p.m. the police responded to the 1100 block of Fifield Street after a caller reported loud noises.
  • At 11:54 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Oak Street. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding.

Sunday, July 25

  • At 11:38 p.m. the police responded to the 700 block of Pioneer Road after a caller reported an abandoned vehicle.
  • At 1:59 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the North Bank of the Chetco River.
  • At 2:03 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check on highway 101.
  • At 4:02 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Easy Street and Chetco Avenue. The driver was cited for failing to carry current proof of Insurance, and was given a verbal warning for careless driving and following too close.
  • At 5:43 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue. The driver was given a verbal warning for unsafe passing.
  • At 9:12 p.m. the police served a warrant by citation on Lucky Lane.
  • At 9:25 p.m. the police responded to the 1200 block of Ransom Avenue after a caller reported a dispute. The parties agreed to settle down.
  • At 10:04 p.m. the police responded to the 300 block of 5th street after a caller reported theft.
  • At 11:25 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco avenue and Harris Beach. The driver was cited for driving while suspended and received a verbal warning for failing to maintain the lane of travel.

Monday, July 26

  • At 00:09 a.m. the police responded to the 1200 block of Easy Street after a caller reported illegal camping. The male was advised he could not camp on church property.
  • At 00:29 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Willow Street. The driver was given a verbal warning for defective equipment and failing to maintain a lane of travel.
  • At 7:22 a.m. the police responded to the 1300 block of Easy Street after a caller reported criminal trespass. A transient ;ale camped on store property was formally trespassed and given an hour to gather his belongings and move on.
  • At 7:55 a.m. the police responded to the interaction of 101 and parkview after a caller reported an animal complaint.
  • At 9:46 a.m. the police served a warrant by citation to Railroad street.
  • At 10:23 a.m. the police responded to Railroad Street after a caller reported an abandoned vehicle. The vehicle has been tagged for tow.
  • At 12:35 p.m. the police responded to the 800 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported a traffic crash with no injury. A minor male crashed into an ODOT light pole. Driver was cited for no ops and no insurance.
  • At 1:23 p.m. the police responded to Stateline Lane after a caller reported a tree down.
  • At 4:22 p.m. the police responded to the 300 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported a traffic crash with no injury. Officer responded to Dairy Queen for a fender bender and assisted involved raptors with exchanging information.
  • At 7:23 p.m. the police responded to the 300 block of 5th Street after a caller reported harassment. An adult female struck another individual in the chest and face then made verbal threats in the presence of witnesses. She was arrested and released with a court citation.
  • At 7:53 p.m. the police responded to the 1200 block of Easy Street after a caller reported loud noises.
  • At 8:07 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 700 block of Elk Drive.
  • At 8:37 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Fern. The driver was given a verbal warning for failing to maintain the lane of travel.
  • At 8:55 p.m. the police responded to Lone Ranch Beach after a caller reported illegal fireworks.
  • At 9:26 p.m. the police responded to the 600 block of Pioneer Road after a caller reported illegal fireworks.
  • At 10:24 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Highway 101 and Arnold Drive. The driver was given a verbal warning for driving without lights when required.
  • At 11:57 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Pacific. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding.
