The police blotter is a public record of incidents as reported by law-enforcement agencies. All individuals arrested or charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The information printed is preliminary and subject to change.

Excerpts from the call logs of the Brookings Police Department:

Thursday, Jan. 2

At 12:24 a.m. Two people in a vehicle at Mill Beach were contacted by officers regarding day use. One was arrested on a valid warrant out of Josephine County and transported to jail without incident; the other moved along.

At 9:47 a.m. Criminal trespass reported on Old County Road. Transient male was trespassed from a local church.

At 11:00 a.m. Officer responded to apartment complex on 5th Street for an ongoing dispute between neighbors.

At 12:56 p.m. Subject cleaning out her car at Mill Beach was advised to pick up her discarded items before leaving the area.

At 1:35 p.m. Two-vehicle non-injury traffic crash at Chetco Avenue and Mill Street was reported. Officer responded to assist with information exchange, and a third vehicle crashed into the already-crashed cars before it could be cleared. No injuries.

At 2:06 p.m. Adult male arrested for DUII after being called in for a driving complaint reporting his vehicle “swerving all over the road.” He was located when he crashed into a vehicle stopped for an accident in the 600 block of Chetco Avenue, then backed into another car. His blood alcohol level was more than four times the legal limit. He was cited and released to a sober friend after processing.

At 6:52 p.m. Four transients were contacted on Railroad Avenue and advised to gather their belongings and move along.

At 7:28 p.m. Criminal trespass reported on Easy Street. Occupants of a vehicle parked at a church were warned for trespassing and advised to move along.

At 7:56 p.m. Officer took information regarding threats at a business on 5th Street.

At 9:36 p.m. Transient male was arrested in the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue on a valid detention warrant and transported to jail without incident.

At 10:33 p.m. Vehicle occupant at Harris Beach was warned for being in day-use area and having an expired vehicle registration.

Friday, Jan. 3

At 11:39 a.m. Theft of services reported for not paying for meal at time of service in 600 block of Chetco Avenue.

At 11:51 a.m. Theft reported on Spruce Drive.

At 1:42 p.m. Suspicious conditions reported on Elk Drive. Mailbox found in bushes.

At 2:51 p.m. Transients camping illegally at Chetco Point were counseled and were moving on.

At 3:41 p.m. Report of transients trespassing on private property at Myrtle and Redwood streets. Were unable to locate the persons.

At 3:42 p.m. Criminal mischief reported at Julie Drive for damage to safety barrier.

At 5:38 p.m. Suspicious conditions reported on Pioneer Road; someone possibly in the brush outside house making bird noises. Neighbor has peacocks.

At 5:57 p.m. Report of person on Redwood Street property looking around. Person was contacted and warned for trespassing on property.

At 6:04 p.m. Transient sleeping on property in the 800 block of Chetco Avenue. Formally trespassed and moved along.

At 8:23 p.m. Verbal dispute between male and female in the 800 block of Chetco Avenue. Warned for disorderly conduct.

At 11:35 p.m. Assault reported at Mill Beach. Male transient attacked by female transient, causing injury to head. Transported to emergency department for treatment.

Saturday, Jan. 4

At 5:35 a.m. Male transient arrested on Fir Street on an outstanding warrant out of Jackson County. Transported to Curry County Jail and awaiting extradition to Jackson County.

At 5:59 a.m. Criminal mischief reported on West Benham Lane.

At 6:19 a.m. Dispute/fight reported on Oceanview Drive.

At 9:21 a.m. Dispute/fight reported on Cypress Street. Verbal dispute between parties, who were separated and who agreed to handle in a civil manner.

At 10:11 a.m. Criminal mischief reported on Cottage Street. Report of lock being cut off a cargo container.

At 10:52 a.m. Suspicious conditions reported on 7th Street.

At 11:58 a.m. Disorderly conduct reported on Chetco Avenue at 5th Street.

At 4:25 p.m. Suspicious conditions reported on Truman Lane.

At 6:29 p.m. Report from Passley Road of flare going up over ocean. Call transferred to U.S. Coast Guard.

At 7:17 p.m. Criminal trespass reported in the 900 block of Chetco Avenue. Report of transients going through garbage on private property. Warned for trespassing and moved along.

At 7:29 p.m. Several individuals evicted and criminally trespassed from a property in the 400 block of Chetco Avenue.

At 10:56 p.m. Two individuals warned for criminally trespassing on 5th Street.

Sunday, Jan. 5

At 7:51 a.m. Dispute/fight in Brookings Police Department lobby.

At 11:46 a.m. Dispute/fight reported on 2nd Street.

At 2:52 p.m. Suspicious conditions reported in the 1000 block of Chetco Avenue.

At 4:36 p.m. Theft reported in the 500 block of Chetco Avenue.

At 4:40 p.m. Illegal camping reported on Dawson Road.

At 6:28 p.m. Criminal trespass reported on Old County Road.

At 8:51 p.m. Dispute/fight reported on Weaver Lane.
