Law Enforcement

The police blotter is a public record of incidents as reported by law enforcement agencies. All individuals arrested or charged with a crime are innocent until proven guilty. The information printed is preliminary and subject to change. The Brookings Police Department provides emergency dispatch services for the City of Brookings as well as Southern Curry County 9-1-1 calls, dispatching for state, county, and local law enforcement, five fire departments, and Cal-Ore ambulance. Wednesday, Oct. 7

At 2:41 a.m., occupants of three vehicles parked at Mill Beach were advised of park hours and moved along.

At 6:38 a.m., transient male frightening customers at a business in the 700 block of Chetco Ave. was trespassed for the day and was later trespassed from other businesses.

At 7:09 a.m., citizen reported a female screaming loudly somewhere in Azalea park, swearing and cursing. Officers did not locate her.

At 7:43 a.m., deputies contacted two parties involved in a rolling dispute from Carpenterville Rd.

At 8:05 a.m., transient male arrested on a misdemeanor warrant and released with a court citation for November.

At 9:16 a.m., adult female was trespassed from a private residence on Seacliff Terrace and local business and warned for telephonic harassment.

At 10:01 a.m., transient male hanging out near the Cappella in Azalea Park had to be reminded of his parks exclusion and be removed from the property.

At 11:00 a.m., occupant of camper parked on public property on Fern Ave. was contacted by officers re: the city ordinance violation. He told the officer he had 'permission' to be there and said that he planned to stay for another week and a half. Officers notified Code Enforcement for followup.

At 12:16 p.m., transient male called from a Harbor business to turn himself in on a warrant; transferred to county.

At 1:10 p.m., adult male warned for telephonic harassment at a business in the 1000 block of Chetco Ave..

At 4:26 p.m., transient male arrested on Fern Ave. on a probation detainer; transported to jail without incident.

At 4:42 p.m., vehicle reported as suspicious on Seacliff Terrace belonged to a landscaper on a job.

At 4:57 p.m., theft of a wagon from a yard reported on Easy Manor Dr.

At 7:26 p.m., menacing reported in a parking lot in the 500 block of Chetco Ave.

At 7:49 p.m., female adult arrested for Assault IV-Domestic on 5th St. and transported to jail without incident.

At 8:01 p.m., subjects with flashlights inside building on Memory Ln.; officers made contact with employees who were there on business; not a burglary.

At 8:18 p.m., transient male walking back and forth and mumbling to himself in a residential area on Memory Ln. was not located by responding officers, who will patrol the area.

At 8:30 p.m., transient male was ringing dispatch doorbell, singing and yelling incessantly.

At 9:32 p.m., transient male arrested for disorderly donduct for blocking vehicles in a drive-thru in the 800 block of Chetco Ave. and returning to the property from which he had been trespassed last night. He was released with a court citation for November.

Thursday, Oct. 8

At 12:22 a.m., occupants of a vehicle at Mill Beach were advised of park hours and moved along.

At 6:33 a.m., transient male resting in front of a business in the 1000 block of Chetco Ave. was moved along.

At 10:23 a.m., three transient males camping illegally behind a business in the 1200 block of Chetco Ave. were warned for trespass and moved.

At 1:12 p.m., keys found on South Bank Chetco River Rd. were turned over to Sheriff’s Office.

At 3:57 p.m., theft of vehicle license plate reported on 5th St.

At 6:41 p.m., adult female arrested for violation of a restraining order and transported to jail.

At 10:28 p.m., disorderly conduct reported in the 700 block of Chetco Ave.

Sunday, Oct. 11

At 9:26 a.m., illegal camping reported on Fern St.

At 2:26 p.m., dispute/fight reported on Lively Ln.

At 5:23 p.m., unlawful entry motor vehicle reported on Lone Acre Loop and U.S. Highway 101.

At 5:31 p.m., criminal trespass reported in the 1100 block of Chetco Ave.

At 11:32 p.m., prowler reported on Collis Ln.

Monday, Oct. 12

At 12:15 a.m., transient male on church property on Old County Rd. was advised to move along.

At 12:36 p.m., officer contacted two transients camped near the library and moved them along.

At 12:57 a.m., female transient advised of park hours at Mill Beach and moved along as directed.

At 7:49 a.m., officer investigating a hit-and-run that caused property damage to a business in the 1100 block of Chetco Ave.

At 9:56 a.m., dispute/fight reported on Court St.

At 10:20 a.m., owner of a vehicle parked at a business on Cottage St. for over a week was contacted and agreed to move it within 48 hours.

At 11:29 a.m., a phone was reported stolen from a motel room in the 1200 block of Chetco Ave.

At 11:43 a.m., adult male arrested in the 1000 block of Chetco Ave. on a felony warrant out of Curry County. He was transported to jail without incident.

At 1:24 p.m., transient male adult took a chair from a motel in the 1200 block of Chetco Ave. but did return it. He was formally trespassed from motel property.

At 3:05 p.m., disorderly conduct reported on 5th St.

At 7:05 p.m., fire personnel responded to what turned out to be a legal camping fire at Crissey Field.

At 10:11 p.m., a citizen on Del Norte Ln. reported online scam attempt but was not defrauded.

At 10:21 p.m., officers were unable to locate a reported transient camp and campfire on W, Harris Hts.

At 10:41 p.m., burglary reported on W. Hoffeldt Ln. was cleaning crew, not burglars.

Tuesday, Oct. 13

At 1:03 a.m., officers contacted a transient male who was loitering in the police department parking lot. He moved along.

At 3:38 a.m., officers contacted four occupants of a vehicle parked near Wastewater Treatment on Wharf St. Two male minors were cited for MIP-Alcohol and released on scene with instructions not to drive, and two juvenile females who had not been drinking were released to a parent.

At 7:56 a.m., transient male sleeping on a church porch on Elk Dr. was asked to move along and did so.

At 8:54 a.m., transient male was reportedly harassing park employees at Bankus Park.

At 10:25 a.m., dispute/fight reported on Boat Basin Rd.

At 10:58 a.m., illegal dumping reported on Pacific Ave.

At 11:18 a.m., transient male was arrested on five misdemeanor warrants in the 800 block of Chetco Ave. He was cited and released and moved along from a business property, from which he has been trespassed.

At 3:22 p.m., transient male was formally trespassed from a business on 5th St. after leaving dumpster trash all over.

At 4:16 p.m., deceased subject reported on Olsen Ln.

At 5:55 p.m., illegal camping reported in the 16100 block of U.S. Highway 101 South.

At 5:56 p.m., adult female arrested for DUII. Released to sober adult after processing.

At 6:59 p.m., harassment between tenants reported on Pioneer Ave.

At 7:08 p.m., a group of transients camped in front of a restaurant in the 500 block of Chetco Ave. were moved along for being loud and disorderly.

At 10:06 p.m., a traffic crash with injury was reported in the 16200 block of U.S. Highway 101 South.

At 11:40 p.m., disorderly conduct reported on 5th St.
