Brookings Police Blotter

The police blotter is a public record of incidents as reported by law enforcement agencies. All individuals arrested or charged with a crime are innocent until proven guilty. The information printed is preliminary and subject to change. The Brookings Police Department provides emergency dispatch services for the City of Brookings as well as Southern Curry County 9-1-1 calls, dispatching for state, county, and local law enforcement, five fire departments, and Cal-Ore ambulance. Wednesday, Sept. 23

At 8:27 a.m., criminal mischief reported in the 800 block of Chetco Avenue for a sewer grate that had been tampered with.

At 8:52 a.m., criminal mischief reported on Schooner Bay Drive.

At 11:20 a.m., dispute/fight reported on North Bank Chetco River Road.

At 2:07 p.m., theft of a trailer sometime in 2017 by known suspect reported on Otter Terrace; officer investigating.

At 4:14 p.m., known suspect was reported shooting flares on Oceanview Drive with no emergency.

At 4:36 p.m., Two adult male transients at U.S. Highway 101 and 5th Street were advised no panhandling in city limits.

At 9:40 p.m., a transient male was advised no camping on Bridge Street and that he needed to have a licensed driver move his van.

At 11:18 p.m., disorderly conduct reported in the 899 block of Chetco Avenue.

At 11:53 p.m., an adult male was arrested on Hillside Avenue for violation of a restraining order and attempting to elude police. Transported to jail without incident.

Thursday, Sept. 24

At 4:42 a.m., prowler reported in the 14500 block of U.S. Highway 101.

At 5:56 a.m. criminal mischief reported on Pacific Avenue.

At 5:56 p.m., forgery/fraud/bad check reported on Chilcote Lane.

At 6:23 p.m., dispute/fight reported on Boat Basin Road.

At 6:41 p.m., an adult male was arrested on Mill Beach Road for unlawful entry of a motor vehicle and theft from a store on 5th Street; transported to jail without incident.

At 8:43 p.m., theft reported by a restaurant in the 600 block of Chetco Avenue.

At 11:16 p.m., an adult female was arrested in the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue for disorderly conduct and assault on a police officer. She was transported to jail without incident.

Friday, Sept. 25

At 12:08 a.m., unknown suspects vandalized a political sign near the botanical gardens off North Bank Chetco River Road.

At 9:04 a.m., criminal mischief reported in the 1000 block of Chetco Avenue.

At 3:03 p.m., dispute/fight reported on Seacliff Terrace.

At 3:03 p.m., disorderly conduct reported on U.S. Highway 101 at the Bug Station.

At 4:53 p.m., criminal trespass reported in the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue.

At 6:22 p.m., fire reported at a business on Easy Street.

At 10:38 p.m., assault reported on Chilcote Lane.

At 11:23 p.m. dispute/fight reported on Mt. Emily Road.

Saturday, Sept. 26

At 11:07 a.m., criminal trespass reported in the 1200 block of Chetco Avenue.

At 11:45 a.m., theft reported in the 300 block of 5th Street.

At 12:17 p.m., dispute/fight reported at Social Security Bar.

At 5:01 p.m., criminal trespass reported in the 16200 block of U.S. Highway 101 South.

At 6:21 p.m., disorderly conduct reported on Demoss Road.

Sunday, Sept. 27

At 12:25 p.m., theft reported in the 1000 block of Chetco Avenue.

At 5:56 p.m., threats reported in the 16200 block of U.S. Highway 101 South.

At 8:03 p.m., fire reported at Oceanview Drive and West Freeman Lane.

At 10:23 p.m., dispute/fight reported in the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue.

At 11:12 p.m., criminal trespass reported on Shopping Center Avenue.

At 11:45 p.m., disorderly conduct reported in the 16200 block of U.S. Highway 101 South.

Monday, Sept. 28

At 12:05 a.m., a transient in a vehicle was advised of park hours at Mill Beach and moved along, as directed.

At 12:28 a.m., an intoxicated male on foot charged at an officer’s patrol vehicle then walked away. He then walked to his dad’s home, where he was warned for disorderly conduct.

At 7:51a.m., a knife stabbed into cardboard was found on Alder Street; property picked up by officer for safekeeping.

At 9:10 a.m., an officer responded to a heated verbal dispute between guests at a business in the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue and helped parties settle down before they left to return to Medford.

At 10:25 a.m., reckless endangering reported to Brookings Police Department at their lobby.

At 10:56 a.m., an adult male transient was transported via ambulance to a local hospital for voluntary mental evaluation.

At 11:00 a.m., officers assisted parties involved in a custodial dispute in the 600 block of Chetco Avenue with contact information for the appropriate agencies and courts in order to follow up.

At 12:53 p.m., transient male picking apples from a tree on private property alarmed residents and was formally trespassed from the residence.

At 3:07 p.m., juveniles were warned for disorderly conduct after entering a business in the 800 block of Chetco Avenue on skateboards and without masks. They were formally trespassed from the store and property, and their parents were notified.

At 3:20 p.m., officers investigated reports of reckless endangering at a store in the 800 block of Chetco Avenue.

At 7:57 p.m., dispute/fight reported on North 2nd Avenue was a verbal dispute between spouses.

At 8:12 p.m., dispute/fight reported on Driftwood Lane.

At 9:35 p.m., an adult male was warned for disorderly conduct after being observed stepping out into traffic in the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue.

At 10:14 p.m., theft reported on Mendy Street.

At 11:27 p.m., disorderly conduct reported a business in the 300 block of 5th Street. A transient male yelling and causing alarm on the property was arrested for disorderly conduct. He was released from the police department with a citation for disorderly conduct and criminal mischief for urinating in the holding cell. He has been formally trespassed from the business.

Tuesday, Sept. 29

At 12:57 a.m., a transient male reported having a rock thrown at him by another transient. Suspect was not

located. He was warned for disorderly conduct after pounding on the dispatch windows and yelling.

At 2:18 a.m., a disorderly transient male was formally trespassed from business property in the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue and moved along, as directed.

At 3:23 a.m., prowler reported on South Bank Chetco River Road.

At 4:07 a.m., same male transient was again arrested for disorderly conduct after a driver nearly hit him in the 900 block of Chetco Avenue because he was dancing in the middle of the road and acting like he was playing chicken with traffic. He was cited and released on the misdemeanor charge.

At 10:12 a.m., a male transient reportedly darting into traffic on Chetco Avenue at 5th Street; he denied the allegations and said that one of the drivers swerved at him while he was on the sidewalk. He was again warned for disorderly conduct.

At 10:59 a.m., a bank in the 800 block of Chetco Avenue reported identity theft and supplied a video of the suspect to police.

At 11:01 a.m., dispute/fight reported in the 900 block of Chetco Avenue. Determined to be mutual harassment between transients; parties separated voluntarily.

At 11:25 a.m., officer returned to check on a transient camp that hasn't moved since he left a business card last week. Appears to be unoccupied, but another message was left.

At 11:35 a.m., a citizen reported an unsightly transient camp at Chetco Point. Officer left message at the unoccupied tent.

At 12:18 p.m., officers checked on another reported transient camp at Chetco Point that appears to have been vacated.

At 3:37 p.m., wallet stolen from shopping cart at a store on 5th Street.

At 5:23 p.m., a transient male sitting in the bushes and periodically peeking into a business on Memory Lane was 'freaking out' guests. He was formally trespassed from the property and moved along.

At 7:21 p.m., Verbal dispute between family members and caregiver on Ransom Avenue. Caregiver agreed to return the house key and stay away from the home.

At 8:12 p.m., forgery/fraud/bad check reported on Old County Road.

At 8:58 p.m., a vehicle stopped by old Pioneer Cemetery on Old County Road was not stuck; occupants were just consulting a map for directions.
