The police blotter is a public record of incidents as reported by law enforcement agencies. All individuals arrested or charged with a crime are innocent until proven guilty. The information printed is preliminary and subject to change. The Brookings Police Department provides emergency dispatch services for the City of Brookings as well as Southern Curry County 9-1-1 calls, dispatching for state, county, and local law enforcement, five fire departments, and Cal-Ore ambulance. Excerpts from the BPD call logs:

Wednesday, Jan. 20

* At 12:05 a.m., officers responded to the 700 block of 2nd Street after a caller complained about a transient man on his property. The transient was contacted by police and left willingly.

* At 7:36 a.m., a dead animal was reported in the road on Parkview.

* At 8:04 a.m., police responded to the 1500 block of Glenwood Drive after a caller reported his vehicle was broken into, items were taken and contents thrown into the street.

* At 8L05 a.m., officers were called to the 500 block of 5th Street to assist with a disgruntled patient.

* At 10:25 a.m., police responded to the 1300 block of Crissey Circle to a report of a vehicle being broken into and a vehicle nearby with a broken window.

* At 10:30 a.m., officers received a report of a mountain lion being seen near Ransom Avenue.

* At 11:41 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at Railroad and Center, and the driver was cited for driving with a suspended license.

* At 12:08 p.m., officers formally trespassed a woman from the 800 block of Chetco after she was reported as disorderly.

* At 1:09 p.m., police received a report of a disorderly man in the road on Lower Harbor Road.

* At 2:26 p.m., officers responded to Fern Dip after a caller said a driver was acting aggressive and trying to get another car to pull over.

* At 2:32 p.m., officers responded to the 6500 block of Lucky Lane after a caller reported a man was trying to break into his girlfriend’s apartment.

* At 5:54 p.m., police received a report of a vehicle being keyed in the 300 block of Matot.

Thursday, Jan. 21

* At 4:55 a.m., a fire was reported at the South Coast Lumber Mill. The mill was aware of the fire and had it under control.

* At 6:21 a.m., officers responded to the 500 block of Chetco and asked some transients to move along.

* At 7:12 a.m., police received a call reporting a vehicle hit a deer on Rainbow Rock Road.

* At 7:36 a.m., officers tagged two vehicles to be towed from private property on Chetco Avenue.

* At 10:15 a.m., a transient male was trespassed from the VA Clinic after making a threat to an employee.

* At 3 p.m., officers responded to the post officer after receiving a complaint of a transient woman yelling and acting aggressive.

* At 6:48 p.m., police responded to the 800 block of North 2nd Street after receiving a report of a dispute in progress. The parties were contacted and were separated for the night.

Friday, Jan. 22

* At 3:23 a.m., police responded to the 600 block of Hemlock after a caller reported a female transient who was refusing to leave. Officers made contact with the woman, who gathered her belongings and left.

* At 9:41 a.m., a hit-and-run accident was reported in the 300 block of 5th Street.

* At 9:46 a.m., police responded to the 900 block of Krista Lane after a caller reported a loose dog.

* At 11:25 a.m., an abandoned vehicle was reported in the 1300 block of Crissey Circle.

* At 2:33 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at Keving and Fawn.

* At 2:56 p.m., a theft report was received from the 400 block of Hillside Avenue.

* At 3:14 p.m., police were called to the 400 block of Alder Street where they trespassed a disorderly woman.

* At 3:26 p.m., a fight was reported in the 17300 block of Canyon Drive.

* At 3:35 p.m., a traffic accident was reported in the 300 block of 5th Street.

* At 7:16 p.m., a traffic accident was reported on Crissey Circle.

Saturday, Jan. 23

* Between 12:43 and 1:26 a.m., officers conducted three traffic stops on Chetco Avenue.

* At 3:06 a.m., police received a report of threats in the 98000 block of West Benham.

* At 10:57 a.m., police responded to the 400 block of Azalea Park Road after receiving a stalking complaint.

* At 12:33 p.m., a traffic hazard was reported on the Chetco River Bridge.

* At 4:17 p.m., a caller reported someone driving erratically near St. Timothy’s, saying the driver almost hit her head on.

* At 4:35 p.m., a dispute was reported in the 16000 block of Lower Harbor Road.

* At 7:06 p.m., police received a report of a car racing up and down the street and spinning out tires in the area of Azalea Park Road and Pacific.

* At 7:13 p.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of Fifield Street after a caller reported a verbal altercation.

* At 7:29 p.m., officers made contact with a man in the 400 block of Spruce Street where the man was spray painting a vehicle.

* Between 8:45 and 9:10 p.m., officers conducted four traffic stops along Chetco Avenue.

* At 9:45 p.m., a dispute was reported in the 95600 block of House Rock Road.

* At 9:58 p.m., officers cited a man for an outstanding warrant in the area of 5th and Chetco.

Sunday, Jan. 24

* At 1:50 a.m., police responded to the 500 block of 5th Street after a caller reported a front license plate was stolen from a vehicle.

* At 3:48 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at Chetco and 5th and cited the driver for operating without driving privilege and failing to carry proof of insurance.

* At 10:36 a.m., an illegal burn was reported in Bayview.

* At 3:02 p.m., officers responded to the 19700 block of Maple Drive after a caller reported a case of forgery/fraud/bad check.

* At 4:23 p.m., an abandoned vehicle was reported in the 16000 block of Highway 101.

* At 5:11 p.m., officers responded to the 400 block of Buena Vista Loop after a caller said suspicious people were walking behind a residence.

* At 6:04 p.m., a caller reported loud music of Floral Drive. Officers were unable to locate the source.

* At 9:10 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at Chetco and Parkview and warned the driver for speeding.

* At 10:29 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop at Chetco and Pacific and warned the driver for driving without lights.

Monday, Jan. 25

* At 9:13 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at Highway 101 and Harris Beach and warned the driver for speeding.

* At 10:21 a.m., police conducted a welfare check in the 400 block of Fern.

* At 10:35 a.m., officers responded to the 800 block of Chetco and arrested a transient man for criminal trespass. He was released with a court citation.

* At 10:57 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop at Highway 101 and Valley Street and warned the driver for speed racing and excessive noise. He was given two weeks to fix his muffler in lieu of a citation.

* At 11:24 a.m., police responded to a two-vehicle accident at Highway 101 and 5th Street. One driver was cited for careless driving.

* At 11:52 a.m., police responded to a second accident at Highway 101 and 5th Street. One driver was cited for driving uninsured and careless driving. His vehicle was impounded and he was ordered to meet with his probation officer.

* At 3:21 p.m., a man was arrested in the 300 block of 5th Street for theft and ID theft and released with a citation.

* At 4:26 p.m., a transient man was caught stealing a bag of cans from the Lions Club ‘Cans for Kids’ receptacle in the 900 block of Chetco. He was ordered to return the cans and he did.

* At 4:36 p.m., police responded to the 400 block of Fir Street and warned a transient woman for disorderly conduct.

* At 4:56 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at 5th and Chetco and warned the driver for failing to obey a traffic control device.

* At 6:48 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop at Center and Cascade. The driver was cited for no license and warned for driving without lights when required. A female passenger was arrested on a circuit court warrant and released with a citation.

* At 11:15 p.m., police responded to the 97800 block of Court Street and arrested a man for disorderly conduct following multiple calls regarding a dispute in the area.

* At 11:43 p.m., police formally trespassed a transient man from the 1100 block of Chetco and warned the man he would be arrested if he returned.
