The police blotter is an excerpt from public record of incidents as reported by law enforcement agencies. All individuals arrested or charged with a crime are innocent until proven guilty. The information printed is preliminary and subject to change. The Brookings Police Department provides emergency dispatch services for the City of Brookings as well as Southern Curry County 9-1-1 calls, dispatching for state, county, and local law enforcement, five fire departments, and Cal-Ore ambulance.

Wednesday, March 17

• At 10:42 a.m., officers responded to the 800 block of Ransom to investigate a fraud complaint.

• At 2:28 p.m., a caller reported a bad check in the 600 block of Old County Road.

• At 3:24 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at Chetco and Harris Beach and cited the driver for reckless driving.

• At 4:06 p.m., a hit-and-run accident was reported at Arch Rock Point.

• At 4:56 p.m., police attempted a traffic stop near Grocery Outlet. The driver fled northbound at speeds in excess of 75 mph, and the officer terminated the pursuit due to safety concerns.

• At 5:55 p.m., police responded to the 1600 block of Highway 101 but we unable to locate a man a caller reported was being disorderly.

• At 7:23 p.m., police conducted a welfare check in the 15800 block of Highway 101.

• At 8:28 p.m., officers arrested a man for DUII at Chevron. The man was released with a citation after processing.

 

Thursday, March 18

• At 5:41 a.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of Chetco after a caller reported a transient woman was being disorderly and refusing to leave. Officers gave the woman a courtesy transport.

• At 7:54 a.m., a transient man was formally trespassed from the 500 block of 5th Street.

• At 11:29 a.m., an officer came across two juveniles in a verbal dispute on Fir Street. The two were warned for disorderly conduct and returned home.

• At 3:29 p.m., police responded to the 700 block of Spruce Street to follow up on a report of mail theft.

• At 4:55 p.m., a burglary was reported on Gustafson Lane.

• At 6:21 p.m., a disabled vehicle was reported on Chetco Point.

• At 7:35 p.m., police responded to the 700 block of Valley after a caller reported suspicious vehicles parked nearby. Officers made contact with the vehicle, which were legally parked.

• At 9:15 p.m., a fire was reported in the 97900 block of Hanscam Lane.

• At 11:38 p.m., police responded to the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported a dispute. Officers arrested a man and transported him to the county jail.

 

Friday, March 19

• At 10:36 a.m., police responded to the area of Mill Beach and Allen after a caller reported a man sitting in the street. Officers warned the man for disorderly conduct.

• At 10:53 a.m., a caller reported a dispute in the 16200 block of Dixie Street.

• At 11:25 p.m., a caller reported a theft of headphones in the 1200 block of Chetco Avenue.

• At 1:13 p.m., a traffic accident was reported in the 600 block of Chetco.

• At 1:30 p.m., another traffic accident was reported in the 1100 block of Chetco.

• At 1:35 p.m., police conducted a welfare check in the 800 block of Midland Way.

• At 1:41 p.m., police responded to the 400 block of Spruce Street after formally trespassed multiple people from the location.

• At 7:22 p.m., a caller reported a harassment in 600 block of Old County Road.

• At 10:02 p.m., a report of suspicious conditions was reported in the 17300 block of Holmes Drive.

• At 11:36 p.m., police conducted a welfare check in the 600 block of Pacific Avenue.

Saturday, March 20

• At 1:30 a.m., police responded to the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported suspicious activity. Officers were unable to locate anyone.

• At 4:29 a.m., police responded to the 400 block of Mendy Street after a caller reported someone knocking at the door. Officers were able to determine the caller knew the person outside.

• At 9:51 a.m., a caller reported harassment in the 900 block of Krista Lane.

• At 10:44 a.m., police responded to the 17300 block of Blueberry Drive after a caller reported someone was banging on their door. When police arrived, no one was there.

• At 11:38 a.m., a traffic accident was reported on Chetco Avenue.

• At 4:03 p.m., police responded to the 500 block of Fir Street after a caller reported a dispute. It was determined the dispute was verbal only and both parties were counseled by police.

• At 6:36 p.m., police responded to the 500 block of Pioneer Road after a caller reported an assault. When police arrived, neither party wanted to pursue charges.

• At 8:39 p.m., a caller reported a criminal trespass in the 17300 block of Parkview Drive. Officers determined the people had a right to be there.

• Between 9:15 and 11:07 p.m., police conducted six traffic stops on Highway 101.

• At 11:42 p.m., police arrested a man on an outstanding warrant in the 500 block of 5th Street and booked him in the county jail.

Sunday, March 21

• At 10:51 a.m., a traffic accident was reported on Highway 101.

• At 1:56 p.m., an assault was reported at Social Security Bar.

• At 5:34 p.m., an animal complaint was received in the 98200 block of South Bank Chetco River Road.

• At 5:37 p.m., a dispute was reported in the 17100 block of Old County Road.

• At 7:19 p.m., a fight was reported in the 97900 block of Lively Lane.

• At 8:27 p.m., a disabled vehicle was reported in the 700 block of Chetco Avenue.

• At 9:56 p.m., an abandoned vehicle was located in the 300 block of 5th Street tagged for tow.

• At 10:18 p.m., police served two warrant by citation in the 300 block of Spruce Drive.

Monday, March 22

• At 12:39 a.m., police responded to the 1100 block of Rowland Lane and checked the area for transients going through recyclables.

• At 9:14 a.m., police responded to Hemlock near the library and warned the occupant of a trailer that was parked illegally.

• At 11:04 a.m., a disabled vehicle was reported on the Chetco Bridge.

• At 12:33 p.m., a hit-and-run accident was reported in the 300 block of 5th Street.

• At 1:29 p.m., a traffic accident was reported on Highway 101 at Benham.

• At 3:43 p.m., a disabled vehicle was reported on Highway 101 and Benham.

• At 4:56 p.m., police responded to the 16400 block of Lovell Lane after a caller reported receiving threats.

• At 5:11 p.m., a caller reported ongoing telephonic harassment between exes in the 200 block of Del Norte Lane.

• At 6:34 p.m., police responded to the 200 block of Wharf after a caller reported someone stole a generator.

• At 6:46 p.m., police warned a person for disorderly conduct in the 1000 block of Wharf Street.

• At 9:13 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at Chetco and Bridge and cited the driver for going 68 in a 35.

• At 10:31 p.m., a traffic accident with injuries was reported approximately one mile before the Mill Creek campground.
