Dear Editor: Regarding the recent article in The Pilot about hikers who have intentionally left the park trails.  I suggest the following signage be installed at all parks that have some element of danger to them:

Dear Visitors: Please enjoy our trails. However … should you deviate from any trail and require rescue from one of our agencies, you will be billed for the total cost of your rescue. Sincerely, the federal, state and local parks systems.

Think that might give them pause? (Although those agencies would need to follow through.)
