Dear Editor: It is with great regret I write this letter. I will no longer be handling our Fourth of July celebration, the Family Fun Festival.

For personal and business reasons I must give up this project.

So many factors have changed in such a short period of time: the newspaper changing hands; radio station changing hands; management changes at one of our biggest donors; main people involved have left the area, retired or have a full plate themselves.

Putting on the event is hard work, and we did it with great success in 2019. We now have shown the community what is possible.

But after meetings with the City of Brookings, the Port of Brookings Harbor other event planners, our group came to the conclusion it was just too hard to raise all the funds - a $30,000.00 budget - and put on the event all with volunteers.

The purpose of this letter is to encourage another group, the port or the City of Brookings, to step up and take over the event. I’m willing to help with all the information.

Thank you, Brookings-Harbor, for all your support the last few years.
