Curry County Commissioner Court Boice’s July 10 letter to the editor uses the radical group ANTIFA as a comparison to a citizen who expressed his opinion in a letter to the editor.

As an elected official, Commissioner Boice uses his official position to publicly attack Mr. Pitts-Campbell because he does not agree with his opinion.  While I personally do not agree with Mr. Pitts-Campbell’s opinion, it is his opinion.

On July 10, Boice would continue to use his official position as Curry County commissioner by sending out a mass email from his official Curry County email account to continue to respond to both his and Mr. Pitts-Campbell’s letters to the editor.

To use Boice’s own words, to attack a citizen for expressing his opinion “because of purely political differences clearly steps over the line.”

Public criticism goes with the territory, commissioner.

In my opinion, Pitts-Campbell shot himself in the foot for writing his letter. By responding to Pitts-Campbell, as well as the manner in which you responded, did not serve you or the county well.

Continue to focus your efforts on serving the residents of Curry County, which is what you do best.
