By Dallas Heard, State Senator
Millions have watched around the world as our country grapples with the raw emotions and collective acknowledgement that change must occur.
As a State Senator in the Oregon Legislature, I take my role and obligations to my district, state, and country seriously. It is an honor and privilege to serve. This is why I find myself angered with the approach and tone of the special session in Salem.
No member can bring forward a bill. Only a select few in the Democrat super majority can do so. If we are to combat the ills of racism, bigotry, and ignorance, we must do so together.
We are here to bring about some of the largest reforms in a generation, and yet there is no honest debate, collaboration, or partnership.
Our friends, neighbors, and loved ones in our communities deserve a robust, honest, and earnest conversation. The current rules instituted by the Democrats, however, have prevented that.
