I’m flummoxed. Why does our Brookings community value dogs’ lives over human lives?

This community vigorously supports rescuing unwanted, unloved, and ill dogs from high kill shelters. This community generously provides funds for their physical, mental, and emotional rehabilitation in order that they may be re-homed into loving households.

Why then, doesn’t this community invest that same type of vigorous, wraparound support for our fellow human beings?

The “powers that be” in Brookings exhibit absolute fear and disdain for our fellow humans experiencing homeless. Fellow humans who are hungry. Fellow humans who are in dire need of mental, emotional, and physical rehabilitation.

Why does our community value a dog’s quality of life over that of a human’s?
