You can judge a society by how it treats its truthtellers and liars. A society that rewards its liars and punishes its truthtellers has morally decayed.
You can judge a society by how it expresses itself through its literature, its art, its song, its culture. A society that loses its culture starves its soul. A society that loses its hope will soon stop dreaming. A society that stops questioning will be told what to think. A society that rises through theft and deceit will produce indecency. A society that burns its history will live in its ashes. A world in fear’s shadow will not feel the sun.
A garden untended may yield only weeds. A society robbed of romance will not see hearts stirred. Hearts unstirred cannot find love. And hearts unloved will at last stop beating.
