The following is a letter I sent to PBS News Hour on June 20, 2018, expressing my feelings at that time. I follow with my subsequent feelings as of Jan 8, 2021:
"On the PBS News Hour dated June 15, 2018, Mr. Trump made a statement to a reporter that frightened me (referring to Kim of North Korea) and I hope someone at PBS News Hour will highlight this comment and bring further attention to the statement. the statement: 'Kim speaks and his people sit up at attention. I want my people to do the same.' God forbid he sounds just like a dictator and his actions seem to me to confirm that he desires to be a dictator.”
Well it happened. I refer to the attack on our Capitol on Jan 6, 2021. I left the Republican party in 2016. After years of watching Trump in private life, I knew what we could expect. If people would pay more attention to what is going on in this country, or at the very least go online and check out candidates before they vote. I'm concerned that over 70 million people still supported him, that's almost 50% of voters. The hell isn't over. We can expect another civil war or a least an attempt at a civil war. It's been over 160 years since the last one, are we ready for another? I am saddened by the thought. Need I say more.
