On Sunday, Aug. 1, the free Billy Joel/Elton John tribute concert at Brookings’ Azalea Park was a big hit, drawing nearly 1,100 music fans. Afterward, one of those fans asked us a good question: “How did we get so lucky? A professional Vegas band! A Grammy nominated, mind blowing, amazing band! How is this free?”

The answer is: Audience donations and sponsorships.

The unprecedented generosity of our amazing audiences and our community sponsors allows us to bring to Brookings a higher caliber of musical artists typically reserved for larger, distant cities. Every single penny of the funds we receive goes to the artists, our sound technician and for promotion.

The volunteer board of the AMF’s Summer Concerts Series is humbled by the tremendous financial support this year. Despite the pandemic, social unrest and economic uncertainty, our budget for the series is the highest it’s ever been. Our audience numbers are hitting record highs. Nearly 30 percent of the people attending concerts travel here from outside Curry County, with some traveling from other states. This definitely has a positive impact on our local economy and our local businesses.

We have this message to all of our supporters: We believe that we have an awesome concert series and your continued and increasing generosity confirms it. We still have four more fantastic shows scheduled this summer, and your donations and sponsorships will not only help AMF cover our costs this year, but guarantee that the 2022 summer concert series will be even more AWESOME!

Thank you for your support. We couldn’t do this without you.
