“Appreciation of St. Timothy’s is growing.”

That is the headline I would have expected to read in the Curry Coastal Pilot. Perhaps it didn’t appear because it is the disgruntled people who are more apt to express themselves.

It is ironic that St. Tim’s is being attacked for their wonderful example of putting into action basic Christian values. Jesus’s words “Love thy neighbor as thyself” and “Whatever you did for the least of these my brothers, you did for me.”

Jesus further instructed us to feed the hungry, to give water to the thirsty, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless and to visit the sick.

Actually, many people that I encounter do express appreciation for the good work that is done by Fr. Bernie and the other smiling faces at St. Tim’s. And we are all indebted to them for their COVID testing and vaccination - greatly.

A list of the good work done by St. Tim’s is too long to include in my letter. But it all follows Jesus’s requests of us.

I grew up in a religious family, but I saw too much of following rules rather than expression of love for all people. What made me quit organized religion was disgust with the leaders of the church, the hypocrisy, the sexism and focus on the material. So to see the work being done at St. Tim’s, it is greatly inspiring - a beautiful example of what Jesus asks of us.

To anyone who feels that the work being done at St. Tim’s needs improvement, you are probably right. It would be wonderful if you would pitch in to help create that improvement. It would also make you feel better about St. Tim's and yourself.

The Brookings/Harbor community thanks you, St. Tim's. You grace our community.
