Gold Beach High School 2019 Graduation may have come and gone but hopefully the memories for these kids will last a lifetime.
On behalf of 2019 Project Graduation and as a parent of a graduating senior this year (and last), I want to thank all of the Curry County community, local businesses and some that are not local, parents, students and the public for all of the donations of goods, services, money and hard work. It takes a lot of teamwork to pull together a safe and sober celebration for these kids. And these kids, they deserved it.
Project Graduation held car washes, bake sales, can drives, sold posters and held a dinner/auction at the Pistol River Friendship Hall to raise the money to send the kids on the trip that was planned out below:
They boarded a bus at Gold Beach High School at 9 p.m. after graduation June 7 and traveled to Cosmic Grind in Brookings and each received a coffee drink of their choice. Next onto the Redwood Cinema and watched the movie, “Secret Life of Pets 2,” got back on the bus and traveled to Crescent City Tsunami Lanes to do some bowling and eat pizza from Wild River Pizza Company for approximately two hours. Hopped back on the bus and to Gold Beach they traveled and then were treated to a bonfire on the beach and a Hot Chocolate Bar (courtesy of Todd and Kerri Armstrong), they all received a camp chair from Fred Meyers to sit in and drink their hot chocolate or cider. By this time, they were getting a little groggy, as was I.
One last “short” bus ride back to Gold Beach High School Cafeteria, where they were treated them to one last breakfast of biscuits and gravy. Several parents and Superintendent Tim Wilson joined the kids at the meal. They all then begrudgingly joined for one last group photo (per my request) and were then sent home with hugs, happiness and a little stash of cash for their spending pleasure.
So thank you again to these businesses/individuals: Cosmic Grind, Redwood Cinema, Wildriver Pizza, Tsunami Lanes, Gold Beach High School, Fred Meyers, Pistol River Friendship Hall, Arch Rock Brewing Company, Richard & Sharon Eccleston, John & Sharon Mather, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Cathy Martin, Howonquet Lodge & Lucky 7 Casino, Fat Irish, Christine Neil, South Coast Tours, Gold Beach Lumber, Family Fun Center, Russ Roberts, Tu Tun Lodge, Gene Garner Guide Service, Karen Wallace, ReMax Properties, Singing Springs Resort, Jerry’s Rogue Jets, Pacific Vacations, All Access Management, J.
