Getting knocked out of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Tournament leaves me ready for next year’s tournament. Connie and I appreciate the love, support and encouragement. Thank you to all who remain in our corner, win or lose.
Thank you Elk Valley Casino for providing the WSOP satellite tournament and the entry fee. Had a great time in Vegas and was able to check WSOP off of my bucket list.
Thank you Curry Coastal Pilot for your news story about the tournament. One tiny correction — it was not despair that Connie felt when I first started playing poker. It was surprise, much like when I came home one day over Christmas vacation between semesters when we were still at Mendocino College. I said, “Surprise, Honey. We’re coaching softball ... starting tomorrow.” We inherited a team that was so divided that they were vandalizing each other’s vehicles with their baseball bats. Three years later we were league champions.
Also, a shout out to my former students, student athletes and other local poker players — never give up on your dreams. Have to use Jeannie Giumarra’s quote here, “A winner is a loser who tried one more time.”
Most of all, thank you, Connie, for always believing in me.
