Victoria Verne Baker “Sam” Grandma Baker

Beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Passed away Wednesday April 13th, 2022, in Gold Beach Oregon with her loving husband Wayne Baker by her side. She was 75 years old.

Sam was the mother of three children, two stepchildren, Grandmother to ten Grandchildren twelve step Grandchildren and seven Great Grandchildren and nine step Great Grandchildren.

Sam was born in Long Beach California July 19, 1946. Her parents were Verne Victoria Truan Goodman and James ‘Jimmie’ Wilburn Goodman. She had two brothers Jim Goodman and Greg Goodman. She was raised in Victorville California. The family latter moved to a lovely seaside community in San Clemente California. She moved to Burney Falls California before finding her forever home in Brookings Oregon.

Sam and her husband Wayne shared a life together in Brookings Oregon where Sam achieved her Master Gardening accreditation.

She worked for Fred Meyer‘s for many years in the garden department and also in the photo department. Sam loved flowers and plants. She was a gifted photographer. She had an eye for beauty and loved photographing nature. She enjoyed creating art of all types and was always sharing her gifts with friends and family.

Sam was a volunteer with The American Cancer Society Relay For Life for 14 years. She was a six-time cancer survivor and was trying to raise funds to find a cure for cancer. She was a supporter of St Jude’s children hospital.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Jude children’s research Hospital in her name.
