It is with a heavy heart I announce the passing of Norma at the age of 92. Norma was generous, loving, creative, and she could “name that tune” in 3 notes! She loved living in Brookings, OR, but moved to Springfield, OR in 2014. She was great at interior design, watercolor painting & ceramics. She loved the ocean, the beach, & traveling around the west, flying the Cessna 150. She went to Italy where she was able to see the old frescoes at the Sistine Chapel, ride the gondolas in Venice and toured ancient sights in Rome. She worked as a display manager for a large clothing retailer for many years and became a manager for the Ross store in Medford before retiring. She was an active member of the St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church and loved singing in the choir. She was preceded in death by husband of 65 years Fred Doherty, daughter Diane Jones, daughter-in-law Christie Doherty, parents and 2 brothers.She is survived by Son, Shawn Doherty of Eugene, grandson’s John Tucker, Mike and Matt Doherty, as well as 7 great grandchildren and 8 great, great, grandchildren as well as many friends in Brookings.
Deceased’s funeral arrangements Norma will be cremated and taken out to sea to be with her husband Fred. Due to Covid-19 we will wait until it is possible for a memorial. In lieu of flowers please contribute to the Brookings Saint Timothy’s Episcopal Church Garden Fund in Norma’s name, “it would be greatly appreciated”.
