It is with great sadness that the family of Mel Bonham announce his passing on April 30th at age 81.

Mel was married for 62 years to his high school sweetheart, Jeanette. They met and married in Ojai, CA.

Mel is also survived by four children Jim and Carol Bonham (Brookings, OR), Julie and Randy Duncan (Desoto, MO), Steve and Jody Bonham (Oroville, CA) and Christi and Jeff Awtrey (Roseville, CA), his sister Billie and Jim Groce (Upland, CA), his niece Debbie and Kirt Ortiz (Smith River, CA), eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Mel owned several meat markets in California. He and his wife moved to Brookings in 1993. They owned the Beachcomber restaurant in Brookings for 20 years.

During his retirement, he spent a lot of time traveling and visiting his family.

Mel always had a smile on his face, he was a dreamer and loved his family. He was last a great business man and loved talking about it even until the last day.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on May 22nd at 3:30 pm at the Beachcomber restaurant in Brookings.
