Kenneth L. Chilson, Sr., 89, of Brookings, Oregon passed away on July 31, 2021 at Good Samaritan Curry Village where he had lived for the last year. Masonic and military graveside services will be held on August 12 at 9:30 am at Crescent Grove Cemetery in Tigard.

Ken was born in Tigard, Oregon, one of 5 children. He graduated from Tigard High School and served in the Air Force until an injury caused him to be medically discharged.

He went on to do a variety of jobs that his injury allowed until he became disabled. He married Jerald Dean Bryan in 1952 and to that union two sons were born. Mr. Chilson spent his time in Oregon and Waco, Texas where he had a home. He loved to travel and he spent time in Germany and visiting Europe. In 2001 he met Martha Hodge and they became constant companions until she passed away in 2020. He was a 32nd degree mason.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence “Vern” and Sadie Land Chilson, his brothers Clarence Chilson, Jr. and Frederick Chilson; and his sisters, Martha Whitener and Gladys Barman; and his longtime companion Marti Hodge.

He is survived by his sons, Kenneth Lynn Chilson, Jr. of Irving, Texas, and Bryan L. Chilson of Johnson City, Texas; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Jerald D. Chilson.

The family appreciates the loving care Kaen received from Good Samaritan Curry Village during his illness. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital, 815 Market St., Galveston, TX 77550.

Masonic and military graveside services were held on August 12, 2021, at Crescent Grove Cemetery, 9925 SW Greenburg Rd., Tigard. Oregon.
