James “Allen” Harrell went to be with the Lord on Nov. 21, 2018. He was born on Feb. 10, 1960 to James Earnest & Gladys Marie (Clayton) Harrell at Seaside Hospital in Crescent City, California. He lived in Brookings until 1965 when the family moved to Canton, Texas. The family returned to Brookings in 1975 where he was nicknamed “Tex” by his friends at BHHS where he graduated in 1978. He chose to follow in his father’s footsteps and enter the Electrical Apprentice program. He and his father opened James Harrell Electric which he took over when his father move back to Texas in 1983. He was not only a Journeyman electrician but also received his supervisor license as well as Oregon State Electrical Inspector license.

He met and married his wife Doreen Fritz in Oct. 1982. They had two children: Jeremiah Allen and Jessica Ann Harrell.

He was preceded in death by his father James and his son Jeremiah. He is survived by his wife Doreen, daughter Jessica, granddaughter Story and mother Gladys Harrell all of Brookings. Also his sister Rose Harrell (Tillamook, OR), brothers Albert Harrell (Arkansas), Timothy Harrell (Sandy, OR) or many nieces and nephews.

He was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and had sung in the choir for many years and before his son’s untimely death they had played in a local brass band together. He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, working in the shop on cars and wood working. He loved Brookings and the great outdoors. Allen also was a great witness for the Lord; always encouraging others on Facebook when he was suffering as well. He had a heart of gold and will be missed by all.
