Jacqueline “Jackie” Roseann Demeo, of Crescent City, took her last breath surrounded by her family on Nov. 10, 2018, after a courageous fight with cancer. She was 59 years old.

Jacqueline Roseann Demeo was born in Los Angeles on Feb. 8, 1959. She grew up in Southern California and moved to Crescent City in 1995. In 2008 she moved to Brookings. Jackie made friends at all of her places of employment which included the County of Riverside Planning Department, Chetco Federal Credit Union and Curry Medical Center. She lived the last year of her life with her daughter and family in Crescent City.

Jackie had a very generous heart and was happiest when she was giving to others. Family and friends were the most important part of her life. She was very creative, always making crafts to sell at local artisan fairs or to give away as gifts. Jackie was also passionate about baking and cooking meals for others. She absolutely loved family dinners and holiday celebrations. Her love for animals was almost as strong as her love for family and friends. There was not a time in her life that she was not caring for animals in one way or another. Jackie was also a voracious reader and enjoyed spending time with a good mystery. She loved to read, but her favorite activity, both before and after getting sick, was playing with her grandson and spending time with family. Jackie was the embodiment of strength and compassion and will forever be remembered.

She is survived by her daughter, Tracy (Troy) Campbell; her grandchildren, Joel and Aidan Campbell; her surrogate daughters, Jennifer and Kimberly Longrie; her sisters, Carole Banks, Marlene (Joe) Vanzant, MaryAnn (George) Watson and Dee Curtis; brothers, Jim (Susan) Demeo and Carl (Diana) Citarelli; and surrogate sister, Maria Guy; as well as nieces, nephews and many amazing friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and Anthony Demeo; her sister, Lorraine Murray; and best friends, Rosalie and Tony Longrie, as well as their son Matthew.

Funeral services will take place at Foursquare Church in Crescent City, on Saturday, Nov. 24th at noon. Food will be served in the Fireside Room after the service.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel.
