Gold Beach resident, Robert (Bob) Mathers passed away Oct. 4, 2018 at the age of 80 from Coronary Artery Disease in Medford at the Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center. He was born Jan. 23, 1938, in Echo, Oregon, to Floyd and Bernice Mathers.
Bob graduated in 1955 from Lincoln High School, attended Portland State for 2.5 years then enlisted in the U.S Marine Corps, Air Reserve Division. After his Military service, Bob married Sandra Jones, Aug. 23, 1964 in Portland.
Bob then worked for Coast to Coast Hardware as Store Project Manager, traveling the Northwest States. After 3 years of traveling he decided to change his career to banking. He started with First Interstate Bank for 29 years and 13 years with Chetco Federal Credit Union.
Bob is survived by his wife Sandy of 54 years; sons: Kelly and his wife Mai, Brad and his wife Krissy; his 3 grandsons Tyler, Gavin and Grayson and 1 great-granddaughter Kristen.
Bob was a member of Rotary, Friends of Curry Public Library, Community Choir, Cub Scout Leader and Cub Master. Bob loved camping, fishing, hiking, gardening and cooking.
Bob had a wonderful sense of humor and will be missed by family and friends.
A celebration of life will be Jan. 19, 2019, at the 1st Baptist Church in Gold Beach at 2 p.m.
