Brookings resident Robert Ray Pope II passed away Feb. 4, 2018, in Brookings.

He was born Jan. 18, 1946, in Berkeley, California, to Robert R. and Georgina (Leite) Pope.

Bob was a proud Vietnam veteran and served in the U.S. Navy.

He was an artist, a skilled photographer and wrote insightful poetry. Bob had a mind for computer technology and stood ready to lend a hand to those less able. He loved his independence and the outdoors, leaving hundreds of miles of walks and bike rides behind him.

Bob is survived by his son; three daughters: Teleen Santillan of California, Tyi-Rai Francis of California and Tresse’re Mills of Oregon; sister Nancy Vickers of Washington, and brother Richard A. Pope of Connecticut. Also surviving are two grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by grandchildren Sipi and Ricky Santillan.

The family thanks Ocean Park Memory Care, Hospice, FNP Nancy Erb, and Azalea Gardens.

An open informal gathering will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, at Wild River Pizza at 16279 U.S. 101 in Harbor.
