Long time Brookings resident Roger Duane Gabrielson passed away Dec. 16, 2017.

He was born Feb. 4, 1948, in Stanchfield, Minnesota, to James R. And Dorothy G. (Vegsund). His mother died when he was a child.

Roger served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1970 and was a combat veteran of Vietnam.

He married Rose Marie Dimmick June 18, 1994, in Brookings.

Roger worked at Pacific Wood Laminates for 20 years before his retirement. He later managed AAA Stor-All, which he loved and all the tenants loved him. He thoroughly enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing in the Brookings area but most of all he loved spending time with family and friends.

Roger is survived by his wife Rose; children Kristi Testa and Jason Dimmick of Brookings, Duane Gabrielson and his wife Ayren and Tammie Gabrielson of Sacramento, California; brothers David Gabrielson and his wife Arlene, Jerry Norman and his wife Sue; sister Gayle Bergloff; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

In memory of Roger, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

A Celebration of Life is planned for July 7, 2018. Details to be published in the Curry Coastal Pilot at a later date.
