On Aug. 1, 2017, we lost our angel Dylan Anthony Speir, 15, of Brookings.
Dylan was a lively and helpful boy who showed compassion when someone needed it. He was often the first friend to new students, and his friends and family knew they could count on him.
Dylan had a bright, infectious smile that he was seldom without — he wanted everyone else to be happy and liked to make others smile. Dylan enjoyed fishing, acting, playing video games, hanging out with friends and family, and playing baseball, basketball and football. He also enjoyed building, welding and tinkering.
He finished his freshman year at Brookings-Harbor High School and hoped to attend Oregon State University to work in law enforcement or to join the military. He worked at Vista Pub, and previously Onion Grill and had a lawn service.
Dylan is survived by his parents Brandy and Joe Speir; siblings Noah and Grace; maternal grandparents Janice and David Williams; paternal grandparents Joseph and Phyllis Speir.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, at Church of the Nazarene, 1600 Chetco Ave., Brookings. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
A memorial balloon release will be at 7 p.m. on the Brookings-Harbor High School baseball field.
