Gold Beach High School proclaimed September as Pride Month and the school’s teachers have named eight classmates as students of the month.

“The students are recognized for their pride in what they do and the pride we have in them,” Gold Beach High School teacher and yearbook advisor Karen Nichols said. “Each month teachers choose a student that they wish to recognize for a certain characteristic.”

Nichols said the selection by the high school teachers is to encourage students to be the best that they can be and recognize their positive behaviors. The students are recognized with a certificate.

Each month during the 2019-20 school year, the high school is selecting themes for the Students of the Month Awards. Nichols said the traits will eventually spell out Panther. P is for pride in Panther and that was selected for September.
