Wednesday, August 14

At 9:45 p.m. An assault was reported on Boat Basin Road in Harbor.

At 6:46 p.m. Officer contacted young male adult operating an electric scooter at a high rate of speed in a parking lot on 5th Street because the driver was in violation of scooter/helmet laws for not wearing a helmet. Driver disagreed and drove off. Driver was cited at 6:50 p.m.

Thursday, August 15

At 12:01 p.m. Male juvenile riding his bike in the wrong direction near on Chetco Avenue was struck by a motorist but was not injured. Declined medical attention. Driver did stop to check on subject, who was angry and waved him away

At 2:00 p.m. Adult female transient was arrested on Chetco Avenue for reckless endangering after reportedly trying to run over her boyfriend with her van. She was transported to jail without incident.

At 6:40 p.m. Multiple calls were received reporting a large plume of bluish-white smoke on a ridge of South Bank Chetco visible from about 6 miles up North Bank. Coos Forest Patrol was immediately notified and sent resources. The fire was approximately 1/4 acre in size and was reported early enough to be limited to the ground; no tree canopy or structures involved. Fire was extinguished.

Friday, August 16

At 2:53 a.m. Officer VanZelf and K9 Hulk assisted deputies and Search and Rescue members in locating a young child who had wandered away from his campsite near Brookings in the middle of the night unbeknownst to his sleeping parents. He was uninjured and was happily reunited with his family,

At 11:13 a.m. A caller at North Bank and Old County Road reported criminal trespass.

At 1:32 p.m. A caller on Highway 101 South reported criminal trespass.

At 2:00 p.m. A caller on Rowland Lane reported forgery/fraud/bad check.

At 3:45 p.m. A caller on Oak Street reported theft.

At 3:49 p.m. A caller on Chetco Avenue reported criminal trespass.

At 7:46 p.m. A caller on 5th Street reported criminal trespass.

Sunday, August 18

At 2:35 a.m. A caller reported a dispute/fight on Coverdell Road.

At 11:53 a.m. A caller reported a dispute/fight on Sundown Road.

At 1:57 p.m. A caller on Mill Beach Road reported criminal trespass.

At 3:59 p.m. Disorderly conduct was reported on Parkview Drive.

At 6:03 p.m. A caller reported a dispute/fight on Pacific Avenue.

Monday, August 19

At 8:52 a.m. A caller reported hit-and-run on Park Avenue.

At 11:35 a.m. A caller reported disorderly conduct on Chetco Avenue.

At 12:23 p.m. A caller reported theft at a restaurant on Chetco Avenue.

At 1:10 p.m. A caller reported criminal trespass on Chetco Avenue.

At 1:20 p.m. A caller reported criminal trespass on Highway 101 South.

At 9:03 p.m. A caller reported a dispute/fight on Mill Beach Road.

At 3:15 a.m. A cold assault was reported on Brown Deer Lane in Brookings.

At 7:07 a.m. Report of criminal mischief in the area of Alder Ridge/Cape Ferrelo.

At 8:20 a.m. Report of a disturbance on Winchuck River Road.

At 9:54 p.m. An assault in progress was reported on Aqua Vista Lane in Brookings. An arrest was made.

Monday, August 12

At 8:23 a.m. Criminal mischief was reported on Shopping Center Avenue in Brookings.

Tuesday, August 13

At 6:39 a.m. A cold assault was reported on Oceanview Dr., Brookings

At 11:42 a.m. Threats were reported on Ferguson Ranch Road, Gold Beach

At 1:17 p.m. A rescue operation was initiated near Natural Bridge.

Wednesday, August 14

At 8:29 a.m. A theft was reported on Old County Road, Brookings.

At 10:53 a.m. A dispute in progress was reported on Ocean Way in Gold Beach.

At 12:22 p.m. A caller complained about criminal mischief on Driftwood Lane in Brookings.

At 2:53 p.m. A caller reported criminal trespass on Ocean View Drive, Brookings.

At 4:19 p.m. A caller on Skunk Run Road in Gold Beach reported a theft.

At 8:56 p.m. A caller reported illegal camping at Harbor View Circle, Brookings.

At 9:45 p.m. A caller reported an assault in progress at Boat Basin Road, Brookings.

Thursday, August 15

At 8:21 a.m. A caller at Port of Brookings reported criminal trespass.

AT 10:59 a.m. A caller on Ferguson Ranch Road, Gold Beach reported sexual abuse.

Friday, August 16

At 7:03 a.m. A caller on Old Coast Road, Gold Beach reported a theft.

At 3:29 p.m. A caller on Tolman Lane, Harbor reported criminal mischief.

Saturday, August 17

At 12:47 a.m. A caller on Fourth Street in Gold Beach reported criminal trespass.

At 1:21a.m. A caller on West Benham Lane in Harbor reported a cold dispute.

At 2:16 a.m. A caller on Court Street in Brookings reported child abuse. An arrest was made.

Sunday, August 18

At 2:04 p.m. A caller reported stalking on Whaleshead Road, Brookings.

Excerpts from the call logs for Oregon State Police

Tuesday, August 13

At 11:21 p.m. Brookings Police initiated a pursuit for a traffic violation. During the pursuit spike strips were successfully deployed by the Curry County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect vehicle turned into a pullout in Pistol River State Park before committing suicide. The DA was notified and the body was recovered by Redwood Memorial. Multiple next of kin notifications were made. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Wes’ Towing per the family’s request.

Monday, August 19

At 6:03 p.m. A crash with injury occurred when Vehicle 1 was traveling northbound on Highway 101 behind Vehicle 2. Vehicle 2 attempted to turn left onto Burnt Hill Beach Road when Vehicle 1 passed Vehicle 2 on the left side. The two vehicles collided, causing damages exceeding $2,500 to both vehicles. The driver of Vehicle 2 was transported to Curry General for minor injuries. Vehicle 1 was towed to Gold Beach. Driver of Vehicle 1 cited for unsafe passing on the left.

At 12:17 p.m. Report of a subject yelling for help in the area of Hillcrest Street.

At 2:59 p.m. Report of a disturbance in the area of Leith Road. An arrest for trespassing was made.

At 4:14 p.m. Report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of the South Jetty.

At 10:44 a.m. Report of elder abuse in the area of Fourth Street.

At 12:05 p.m. Report of a disorderly subject in the area of Leith Road. A person was arrested for disorderly conduct and probation violation.

At 12:20 p.m. Report of a wanted subject in the area of Hillcrest Street. A person was arrested for probation violation, escape and several other charges.

At 4:18 p.m. Report of a dispute in progress in the area of First Street.

At 4:39 p.m. Report of a protection order violation in the area of a motel.

At 6:21 p.m. Report of trespassing in the area of a motel.
