The rumors swirling on social media and the streets of Brookings-Harbor are now confirmed.

Grocery Outlet, currently located in Harbor, plans to take over half of the former Ray’s Food Place location at 906 Chetco Ave. in Brookings.

“Yes, we are moving,” Grocery Outlet co-owner Lori Panter said. “We are projected to open in early 2020.”

She cautioned that construction delays are not uncommon in this area, but the plan now is to open at the new site in January 2020.

Grocery Outlet currently is in a Harbor shopping center at 16261 U.S. Highway 101 South.

The Ray’s building, which housed the original store in the Ray’s grocery chain, has been vacant since November 2016.

Grocery Outlet has 270+ independently operated stores in California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Washington, according to the company's website.
