After a year’s hiatus because of the COVID pandemic, the Brookings Harbor Community Bazaar organizers are planning for this year’s event, to be held on Saturday, November 13, at the Brookings Harbor Schools.
Prospective vendors of quality handcrafted items can register now for spaces in the middle school gym or the high school cafeteria. All the information on registration can be found on the web site at www.brookingsharborbazaar.com, under the tab “Vendor Info”. Spaces for the one-day event are only $40 and the funds raised are all used for scholarship opportunities. The organizing “elves” are keeping a close eye on the COVID statistics, and if the statistics don’t improve by October 20, the event will be cancelled and the vendor fees returned, to try again next year.
Basically, to register, vendors need to call weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 541-661-3739 to register and gain a booth number. Then, go to the web page above and print off the two required forms, fill out and mail back with the booth fees. The checks will be held till the decision date of Oct. 20 in case of cancellation. If this occurs, vendors will be given the opportunity to keep their booth number to register the following year. In past years, vendors have come from a 250 mile or more radius to bring quality merchandise to the event and the excited customers who look forward to this event each year to begin the holiday season. Food vendors are also encouraged to set up between the two venues.
The bazaar is sponsored beginning this year by the Brookings Chapter GE of P.E.O., a philanthropic educational organization that raises funds for women seeking to further their education or gain new careers. This organization was begun in 1869, with the local chapter starting in 2005. Since then, the local chapter has gained over $60,000 in funding for women returning to school.
