Ratification Vote

Union members in Brookings are scheduled to take their ratification vote on the tentative contact with Fred Meyer on Friday, Oct. 11.

The United Food and Commercial Workers Union has announced the dates its union members will vote on a tentative contract reached with Fred Meyer stores in Oregon.

The voting is schedule to begin Friday, Oct. 4, in Eugnene-Springfield. UFCW workers in Brookings are set to take their vote on Friday, Oct. 11. Other Oregon Coast UFCW members, including those in Coos Bay, will vote on Sunday, Oct. 6. Florence and Tillamook members will vote on Monday, Oct. 7. Newport, Lincoln City and Astoria members are scheduled to vote on Tuesday, Oct. 8. UFCW members in other Oregon cities are expected to cast their ratification votes by Oct. 11.

The tentative agreement was reached on Saturday morning, Sept. 28, following 14 months of negotiations.

Specific details of the tentative agreement were embargoed until the ratification vote is completed.

The UFCW represents approximately 20,000 workers, including selected employees at the Brookings Fred Meyer store.
