Due to resignations, the Curry County Board of Commissioners is seeking applicants to fill three positions — two seats on the county planning commission and a seat on the fair board.

Interested applicants are encouraged to apply.

Planning commission

The vacant planning commission positions are a south county seat with a term expiring March 12, 2023, and a central county position with a term expiring April 1, 2023.

The Curry County Planning Commission is appointed by the board of commissioners. The planning commission provides recommendations to the board regarding county land use regulations and policies, hears appeals of the planning director’s decisions and takes action on applications for division of land and other land use actions not assigned by the zoning code to the planning director.

The seven member commission is comprised of two four-year term members from the area extending from the Coos County line south to an east-west line at the mouth of Mussel Creek (Arizona Beach); two four-year term members from the area extending from the east-west line at the mouth of Mussel Creek (Arizona Beach) south to an east-west line at Crook Point; and two four-year term members from the area extending from the east-west line at Crook Point south to the California state line; and one two-year term at large member from one of the three areas.

Residents south of Crook Point and residents of the area extending from the east-west line at the mouth of Mussel Creek (Arizona Beach) south to an east-west line at Crook Point who would like to serve on the Planning Commission should apply on the county’s website at: http://www.co.curry.or.us or call 541-247-3296 to obtain an application. Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Sept. 11.

Fair board

The vacant Curry County Fair Board position has a term ending Dec. 31, 2021.

The fair board is comprised of seven members. It has statutory authority for the exclusive management of the ground and all other property owned, leased, used or controlled by the county and devoted to the use of county fair and fairgrounds.

Fair board members must be able to be bonded. Qualified applicants who would like to serve on the fair board on the county’s website at: http://www.co.curry. or.us or call 541-247-3296 to obtain an application. Applications will be accepted until Sept. 17.
