The Walkers

South Coast Humane Society Executive Director Jenifer Alcorn and her friend Stacy Cook stopped their walk for a photo just after crossing the Chetco River Bridge in Brookings.

It was a 22-mile walk for the South Coast Humane Society Executive Director Jenifer Alcorn and her friend Stacy Cook of Fresno, Calif.

The two began their Veteran's Day walk to the animal shelter in Brookings at the Redwoods just north of Crescent City. They were accompanied along portions of the walk with appearances by several dogs from the Humane Society in Brookings.

The walk was an effort to bring awareness to veterans suicide. Alcorn and Cook also used the walk to raise money that will be used to assist with funding veterans' pet needs.
