Brookings police blotter

The police blotter is a public record of incidents as reported by law-enforcement agencies. All individuals arrested or charged with a crime are innocent until proven guilty. The information printed is preliminary and subject to change.

Tuesday 9/14:

  • At 4:49 a.m. the police responded to the 1100 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported stalking.
  • At 8:34 a.m. the police responded to the Goldilocks lot to conduct a warrant service. An adult male was arrested on a valid warrant and transported to jail without incident.
  • At 9:25 a.m. the police responded to highway 101 near SWOCC after a caller reported illegal camping.
  • At 12:23 p.m. the police responded to the 300 block of 5th street after a caller reported theft. An adult male was arrested for theft from Fred Meyer and released with a court citation.
  • At 4:49 p.m. the police responded to Grocery Outlet after a caller reported criminal trespass. Adult males attempted to steal some items from the store and were trespassed from the store and property.
  • At 5L:04 p.m. the police conducted a rescue operation at the 600 block of Hemlock street.
  • At 5:10 p.m. the police responded to the 300 block of alder street after a caller reported criminal mischief. Officers mediate a dispute between neighbors, who were warned for disorderly conduct.
  • At 6:21 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the 800 block of Old County Road. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding.
  • At 6:30 p.m. firefighters responded to Mill Beach after a caller reported a fire. Fire personnel extinguished two fires on Mill Beach and associated adults were trespassed from the property.
  • At 8:13 p.m. the police responded to Azalea Park after a caller reported criminal trespass. Adults camping in the park were advised to pick up their trash and move along.
  • At 10:13 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and 5th street. The driver was cited for driving while suspended and illegal u-turn. A licensed passenger took over driving responsibilities.
  • At 10:30 p.m. the police responded to the 400 block of Fir Street after a caller reported illegal camping.
  • At 11:27 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chrissy Cir and highway 101. The driver was cited for careless driving, speeding 97mph in a 35mph area and failing to carry current registration.

Wednesday 9/15:

  • At 8:05 a.m. the police responded to the intersection of Highway 101 and Harris Beach after a caller reported a safety hazard for upcoming traffic.
  • At 11:50 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Beach Avenue and Chetco Avenue. The driver was cited for speeding 14mph above the speed limit, he was given a verbal warning for failing to maintain lane of travel.
  • At 12:07 p.m. the police responded to the North Bank of Chetco River Road after a caller reported a traffic crash with no injury.
  • At 1:54 p.m. the police responded to the 300 block of South Hazel after a caller reported criminal mischief.
  • At 2:00 p.m. the police responded to the 1400 block of Scott Lane after a caller reported harassment over the phone.
  • At 2:52 p.m. the police responded to 1st street after a caller reported a dispute.
  • At 3:23 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Willow. The driver was given a verbal warning for failing to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk.
  • At 4:11 p.m. the police responded to the 300 block of 5ht street after a caller reported a traffic crash with no injury.
  • At 5:02 p.m. the police conducted a warrant service at the 300 block of 5th street. A male was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant out of Jackson County and released with a citation, He was also warned for disorderly conduct and formally trespassed from Blue Coast Inn.
  • At 6:04 p.m. the police responded to the 800 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported an adult male was blocking Burger King drive through. The driver had been looking at his phone and neglected to pull forward. He was cited for driving while revoked and advised to park the vehicle until a licensed driver could move it.
  • At 7:28 p.m. the police responded to the 300 block of 5th street after a caller reported a criminal mischief. A citizen had vehicle tires slashed while the car was parked at Fred Meyer.
  • At 8:59 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Oak street. The driver was given a verbal warning for defective equipment.
  • At 9:07 p.m. the police conducted another traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and bridge street. The driver was given a verbal warning for failing to maintain the lane of travel.
  • At 9:28 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop on Chetco Avenue, the driver was given a verbal warning for defective equipment.

Thursday 9/16:

  • At6:51 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of highway 101 and Lucky Lane. The driver was cited for driving while suspended, he was also given a verbal warning for speeding and failing to maintain a lane of travel.
  • At 7:44 a.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 15800 block of Sunset Strip.
  • At 7:54 a.m. firefighters responded to the 16000 block of Boat Bassin Road after a caller reported a fire.
  • At 8:40 a.m. the police responded to the 200 block of Del Norte Lane after a caller reported an animal complaint.
  • At 11:16 a.m. the police responded to the 700 block of 1 street after a caller reported a dispute. An adult male arrested for domestic menacing and harassment after punching his girlfriend during a dispute. He was transported to jail without incident.
  • At 2:50 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of highway 101 and frontage street. The driver was given a verbal warning for failing to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk.
  • At 12:59 p.m. the police responded to the 1000 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported illegal camping.
  • At 1:11p.m. the police responded to the 96000 block of Lone Ranch parkway after a caller reported criminal trespass. Two adults were directed to clean up the garbage from around their vehicles and were formally trespassed from the property.
  • At 2:56 p.m. the police responded to the 1600 block of highway 101 north after a caller reported criminal mischief. A male reportedly vandalized a travel kiosk at a rest area. Subject was confrontation with the officer and denied any wrongdoing.
  • At 4:22 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the North Bank Chetco River Road.
  • At 6:15 p.m. the police responded to the 900 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported harassment. A male was arrested for assault IV and harassment after beating two persons with a stick. He was released with a court citation due to lodging limitations at the jail.
  • At 11:33 p.m. the police responded to the 16200 block of highway 101 south after a caller reported threats.

Friday 9/17:

  • At 6:47 a.m. the police responded to the 800 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported disorderly conduct. A male trespassed from local business after being advised to stop panhandling and yelling at staff.
  • At 8:42 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and 5th street.
  • At 10:43 a.m. the police responded to the 1300 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported a loud noise.
  • At 11:35 a.m. the police responded to the 300 block of 5th street after a caller reported panhandling. 3 males were warned for panhandling and moved along.
  • At 12:33 p.m. the police responded to the intersection of Dawson and Chetco Avenue after a caller reported illegal dumping.
  • At 4:34 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 16300 block of Lower Harbor Road.
  • At 6:16 p.m. the police responded to the 300 block of Spruce Street after a caller reported criminal trespass.
  • At 8:33 p.m. the police responded to the 1200 block of Chetco Avenue after a caller reported criminal trespass.
  • At 10:31 p.m. the police responded to the 700 block of Pioneer Road after a caller reported disorderly conduct.

Saturday 9/18: No reports

Sunday 9/19:

  • At 4:22 a.m. the police responded to the 1600 block of highway 101 after a caller reported a tree down.
  • At 2:19 p.m. the police responded to North Bank after a caller reported a traffic crash without injury.
  • At 3:52 p.m. the police conducted a warrant service. An adult was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant out of Del Norte County which was served by court citation. He was also cited for Operating without drive privilege and failing to carry current proof of vehicle insurance.
  • At 11:30 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and Mill Beach. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding.
  • At 11:34 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Chetco Avenue and heather street. The driver was cited for going 59 mph in a 35mph area.

Monday 9/20:

  • At 1:25 a.m. the police responded to the highway 101 on Chetco Bridge after a caller reported a traffic crash with no injury. A utility trailer in tow came unhitched from pickup, causing a loud crash. No injuries, the driver was able to remove the trailer from the roadway and clean up the debris.
  • At 8:19 a.m. the police responded to the 500 block of Pacific Avenue after a caller reported an animal complaint.
  • At 11:57 a.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Fern and Pacific Avenue. The driver was given a verbal warning for failing to signal.
  • At 12:29 p.m. the police conducted a welfare check at the 600 block of Easy Street.
  • At 4:06 p.m. the police responded to the intersection of highway 101 and 5th street after a caller reported a traffic crash with no injury.
  • At 5:15 p.m. the police responded to the 300 block of 5th street after a caller reported a dispute. Officer contacted parties involved in a verbal dispute in their vehicle, which contained a young child. They admitted to the verbal incident but there was no evidence of it being physical. They agreed to remain civil.
  • At 7:16 p.m. the police responded to the 800 block of Paradise street after a caller reported an animal complaint.
  • At 9:52 p.m. the police conducted a traffic stop at the fred meyer parking lot. The driver was given a verbal warning for failing to display license plates.
  • At 10:30 p.m. the police responded to the 900 block of Weaver after a caller reported criminal mischief.
